Itâs sad that I have to agree with the negative reviews but without them it wouldnât represent a true picture. The comments about customer service are unfortunately true. I understand that you wonât always be smiling everyday but basic human decency should be a given. The atmosphere in the shop is very tense, staff donât appear to get along and it projects unto the customers. This also reflects in the food, spend over ÂŁ30 here and for the price not ONE thing tasted good. Cooking is about energy and love, especially Caribbean cuisine, so where there is a lack of love and positivity the food tastes and looks horrible. I wish I had taken a picture because the curry goat looked highlighter yellow, chewy and bland all at the same time (shocking to be honest). The fried chicken was greasy and wet and for the price absolutely not worth it. Their oxtail was also chewy and lots of bones⌠I understand the price of oxtail has gone up but youâre better off buying the meat yourself for the price you pay and just cooking a whole pot at home. Majority of the food went in the bin because it was that bad. Sadly, I think this is the last time Iâll try this place, it gets progressively worse over the years. Hopefully they do read the comments and make some changes, it makes all the difference to the business and the overall experience for everyone. Jamaicans need to let go of the bad customer experience reputation now, you only get a slight pass if the food is fantastic and this isnât one of...
Read moreIt's a shame I have to give 1 star as they deserve 0 ratings. After placing my order on Just Eat I was phoned by Refill to say they had run out of what I had requested (this should've been updated on the menu) I was told I would need to contact Just Eat myself to cancel the order which is ridiculous as this is for the restaurant to do not the customer as I weren't aware they did not have the food they listed as having. I argued this with 2 people one by the name of Chantelle who was extremely rude and lacked customer service. Telling me I need to cancel in the Just Eat app when I told her I was unable to she told me to phone Just Eat instead and follow her instructions which were wrong. I told her I cannot as the restaurant needs to cancel with their partner Just Eat not me. She them told me she can't do anything about it, I asked for a manager to which she told me there was no manager around. So now I'm left with no food and no refund. Very unprofessional staff. P.s maybe Chantelle should have gone onto Google for instructions instead of being rude. I've included instructions below on how to cancel orders should you need to do so in the future. (Go to the Order details screen, tick the box that shows the reason you're cancelling - and cancel the order. Please note that there may be a charge for any inconvenience caused to the customer. If the order is considerably late, customers might request to be...
Read moreFirst time I bought jerk chicken from Refill in ungentrified Brixton, it was so peppery that I drove around to various friends saying you gotta try this.
You used to get massive portions in the original polystyrene containers.
Once on my birthday my ex asked me what I wanted to do. Nyam a whole portion of Jerk Chicken. We took our food straight to the car and ate it there and then :) The temperature was always perfect :)
Later it seemed to have become milder; but perhaps my tolerance had gone up.
I once mentioned this to the chef at the time. He was diplomatic.
Friday night I marinated chicken at a ratio of two crushed scotch bonnet pepper to one chicken for later cooking in a sous vide.
Yesterday at 11.45am ish, I visited Refill for the first time in ages. The service was even better than before. It was like stepping back into ungentrified Brixton :) The portions were smaller than before, but still larger than some other Caribbean take outs.
I follow keto; so I had jerk chicken without sauce and it had a little kick to it; so it hit the spot.
I didn't feel hungry again, until after my cycle ride back to the wilderness they call...
