Awful night. First night out since the birth of my daughter almost one year ago, extremely anxious to leave her. Arrived at the Jamm and the security were extremely aggressive with their tone and attitude - totally unfriendly defo not keeping people safe. Did not help with the anxiety I was already feeling.
I purchased multiple tickets online a few weeks ago to celebrate my birthday with friends. I had paid for a sitter, people had traveled from over london to join (ALSO PAYING FOR SITTERS)
I asked if I could meet my friend at Brixton tube station however it was strictly no re entry policy. HOWEVER, after some time, I saw people coming and going out the front to smoke, my partner asked why they were allowed re-entry, the security told him they are smoking. So when I queried that it was okay for people to leave the venue to smoke drugs, but absolutely not okay to go meet a woman walking through Brixton on her own… after making this enquiry, the delivery of security from them changed and got even worse!
The jamm was EMPTY still at 11pm. No sign of artists performing. Only DJ’s playing half full room.
Eventually when the artists arrived on stage to said empty room, the bar’s taps then did not work and no draft beers could be purchased. The glass bottled beer was being sold though… bit dangerous no? Considering the effort the security were making to make everyone’s night miserable
Such a shame. Total double standards. I felt discriminated against by your hired thugs. Myself and my partner were absolutely being targeted by them due to our appearance and questioning the re entry policy. My partner was even told he wasn’t allowed to be served at the bar, he said why, the bar women told him ‘why do you think you are not allowed to be served?’ My partner told her he had no idea, she said it was ridiculous and served him regardless..
Overall, waste of time money and energy. I would have had more fun waiting for a...
Read moreI went to watch the Rugby World Cup final. The venue is amazing in itself with a quirky outside area. The reason for the 2 stars is the serious lack of organisation by the management team at the bar. Firstly on the website it stated food would be available. After asking one member of staff where to order she explained "we don't have a kitchen here. There isn't food." Then after looking outside I saw a mini area doing bacon sandwiches. Therefore she just didn't know there was a part of the bar doing food. Then she told me I wasn't allowed to eat the sandwich I just bought as no food or drink is allowed from outside the premesis. I then had to explain that it was from the Brixton Jamm.
Secondly the staff behind the main bar were overwhelmed, I believe they needed more staff/more senior members as many of the bartender's didn't know what you wanted to order or were incredibly slow. They didn't pre pour drinks so then there was a queue of staff waiting to use one tap. Poor management strategy for such a big event.
And then thirdly they ran out of Guinness before half time. It's ludicrous that a bar with a good reputation can under order its stock for such a large event.
These were the main issues among many other things like bouncers not knowing areas of the bar, and also forcing people to finish their drinks before moving to other parts of the venue for no reason whatsoever. It's safe to say that I will not be returning in the near future due to the lack of professionalism shown by this venue. (This is not a rant because England...
Read moreThis used to be one of my favourite clubs - great music, cool people, nice atmosphere. But now the door policy is getting ridiculous - are we in Brixton or in Chelsea? not sure. Yesterday I went to a concert with three friends and, as soon as it was over, the music stopped and the cleaners came in. So I decided to go to the other room where a dj was playing (there are two rooms internally connected via two small doors) and I've been stopped by the bodyguard who told me that if I wanted to listen to more music, i had to go out, join the long queue under the rain and pay 12 quids on top of the expensive ticket I had previously bought. in the meantime, one of my friends went to the bar where the three barmen standing behind the counter told her that even to get a glass of water, she should have gone outside, joined the long queue and paid again. Another friend tried to go to the loo and received the same response - pay and then you can go to the toilet. While the band was playing the last song, another friend had gone out to smoke a cigarette and take an incoming call - after a few minutes he tried to get inside again to get his coat but he has been stopped and guess what he has been told? join the queue, pay again and then you can get your coat. The music is still great, people are still cool and the atmosphere is still nice but after this experience i...
