Love this place, been a few times now and the owner has done a great job with the renovations. I've decided to leave a review as I witnessed the incident described by "Joe Bell" below and feel it is unfair for the pub and its lovely staff to get a bad name due to one rude customer and her arrogant, self-entitled friends. I was sat at the window not far away and was unfortunate enough to overhear how "Joe Bell" or one of her friends were constantly commanding the poor waitress to pour them drinks. I can only assume that "Joe Bell" is new to London and/or was never taught patience as a child, because in any London pub on a Friday night, you will be QUEUEING (this is the correct spelling "Joe Bell") for your drinks. The situation became quite tense after one of her male friends gave the waitress some "advice" in a very condescending manner and then a female friend began violently banging the bar like a troglodyte to demand service. Some how the barmaid managed to keep her cool, much to the surprise of me and everyone else in the pub. I almost stepped in and said something to the group, but they were clearly quite drunk and aggressive, and so was worried that it might start a fight. The barmaid very calmly asked them to be more polite (probably because they were disturbing everyone in the pub by this point) which seemed to strike a nerve. Most distastefully, they started taunting the barmaid as she was trying to do her job and serve other customers. After I and other people had raised our concerns about this raucous group, the barmaid asked them to leave. However, the group decided that they would not be leaving without a fight and started hurling abuse at the barmaid. The men of "Joe Bell's" group became even more belligerent, but thankfully, this awful, toxic group of cretins left of their own accord. As they were leaving, one of them mentioned that they were going to another pub nearby, which the barmaid happened to know of, and hence told them that they should not go as they were far too inebriated and so would not be let in. With one final outburst, "Joe Bell" let out what can only be described as a cacophony of sounds, which I can only assume were insults that had become slurred into a discordant wail. I can say that myself, and everyone in the pub that night, were relieved when we saw the back...

The Grosvenor Arms is located in a residential area on the border between Stockwell and Brixton. The nearest Tube is Stockwell, it’s a five minute walk to get here.
This Victorian pub dates from 1867 and closed in 2014 with developers ready to pounce. Thankfully the local community saved the pub but unfortunately the pub had lost its Victorian interior. The Grosvenor reopened its doors in 2019 and now operates as a brew pub, it is the sister pub to The Priory Arms in Stockwell.
This is a good size one bar pub that has an eclectic contemporary feel. The servery is tiled, has a solid wood counter and is located on the back wall. The walls are painted bottle green and adorned with a number of beers signs, mirrors and a couple of large TV’s. The seating is a mix of different styles of benches and traditional tables and chairs. There is also a pool table and a couple of old-school arcade machines. If you want to imbibe alfresco, there are a few benches outside.
The beer selection is superb with 25 beer and cider taps to choose from. The beers frequently rotate and offer tipples from London breweries like @anspachhobday and Canterbury brewers @flocbrewing , the pub also brews its own Lager. I noticed they served @paulaner which is a favourite of mine, my pint was excellent, price point was average at six quid. The food option here is pizza.
I arrived around 2.30pm on a warm Saturday afternoon in August. The pub was calm and relaxed with a dozen or so punters in attendance. There is a nice local feel to the pub and it was easy to settle in. The service was great, the chap behind the ramp was all smiles and welcoming. The pub shows live sport on Sky and TNT and hosts a Pub Quiz.
The @grosvenorarms17 is lovely laidback local with a superb range of beers, this pub is well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Once I'd come to grips with the fact I'd been pronouncing it wrong on account of my typo and subsequent autocorrect constantly putting it as Gros-nover, the Grove-nuh felt like a pub from yesteryear but with modern twists. The tayto crisp selection mashed with the 15 different taps of craft beer, the retro arcade machines alongside the pool table that accepts card payments (a separate debate was had about how you "claim" a next game if no coins are used - will any coin do? Do you put your debit card down? - a board with the rules now up apparently!), a brewery in house which allows pints to be sold sub-£5, and sports on the screen but not exclusively football.
It's got a bit of everything, and you wouldn't expect it. The Google reviews are less than favourable if you go back beyond the takeover a few years ago, and when I suggested we head here it was met with restrained enthusiasm. Walking in the door, a bit of back and forth with the barman, and the guys I was with felt right at home.
It had personality, it had space, and it had choice. If you come out of here and take a short stroll back down the incredible structure of Stockwell Bus Station, you can tag-team this with a Priory Arms visit too. A lovely little excursion all in all, and London Black by @anspachhobday was the standout, again. Impeccable pour, the glassware makes you feel...
