Been here a few times and it was decent. Beautiful view, tasty cocktails, and a good fish and chips. This time we decided to get something different, regretted that. Starters took 40 minutes. My boyfriend's squid was cold and my zucchini fritter had an onion ring accidentally put on it (I saw it was from another tables side), imagine if I was allergic! Mains came out at a good time, luckily. My salad was nice and boyfriend's schnitzel was okay but needed sauce as it was dry. We ordered one cocktail the glass was completely chipped!! if we were careless it could have broken in our mouths. They didnt say much when we mentioned it. The dessert was hilarious and I added a photo of it. My boyfriend got the sticky toffee pudding which we always like, cant go wrong. I got the "amaretto caramlised peaches" for £9.25. What came was 2 halves of a peach obviously from a tin and heated in the microwave with sugar syrup. I wish I had sent it back but they took the plate from me even after I only had one bite and left it like the picture for 15 minutes, didnt ask if there was an issue. If you come here, stick with easy/simple items and you cant go wrong. We work in hospitality so we were very lenient about the painfully slow service on a Monday, but the rest is sad.

A bit of history side - Browns Butler Wharf is situated right below on the Butler's Wharf which is an English historic building at Shad Thames on the south bank of the River Thames, just east of London's Tower Bridge, now housing luxury flats and restaurants. Lying between Shad Thames and the Thames Path. Fun bits and bobs - We ordered the Baked Eggs on a Purgatory and Eggs Benedict accompanied with the best Lavazza cappuccinos. Absolutely delicious and warm hearted breakfast. Love it, too good to explain. They nailed it with sheer delightfulness. They serve a host of British classics mixed with international influences, you are bound to find something to impress. When it comes to breakfast/brunch, Browns keeps it simple. The usual suspects of eggs benedict, royale and florentine are all on offer, as well as your traditional full English and the slightly more adventurous buttermilk pancakes topped off with maple syrup. Overall, Browns may not be the obvious choice along this section of the river but it is a good restaurant, weather permitting lovely eating al fresco, food very good, service good and good value for money. Ticks all the boxes. Beautiful location with the lovely Thames views - very good food and service.

Went to Brown's on Butlers Wharf for afternoon tea. When we arrived, we were friendly greeted and asked if we wanted to sit out or inside. It was a cold day, so we opted for indoors. If it is warm I'd recommend outside, as there is a stunning view of Tower Bridge and the Thames. Inside is a bit too dark for my eyes, so you may want to ask for a window seat if you would like more light. I guess this is to give a more relaxed and cosy feeling. We ordered a few of Brown's own soft drinks, beer and cocktails, while we were waiting for someone from our party to arrive. The drinks were very nice, a bit on the heavy side with the ice, so if you do order, ask for no ice. We all ordered afternoon tea and they were accommodating to our food requests and manged to work around the dietary requirements of one of our party. Nothing was too much trouble. The afternoon tea was well presented, looked and tasted delicious. You could choose when to have the tea as well; we opted to have the tea itself with the scones and petit fours. It was extremely well priced considering the location. I would definitely recommend going to Brown's on a trip down to London.

Avoid if you want to actually eat within a hour of your pre paid booking!

I was throughly disappointed by the service I received yesterday at Browns for the hen party of 20 I had arranged. This booking had been planned and arranged for months, fully paid and dietary requirements fully provided in advance. What should have been a pleasant and stress free afternoon tea was completely marred by the poor service. I clearly communicated when we arrived at 11.45 with the majority of the party arriving on schedule that I wanted all of the food to be served to be brought out with no delay and drinks orders were placed one we arrived. I had to ask for water for the table as drinks were not serve for over half hour after arriving. Some tea was finally provided but there was not enough milk I had to ask for more! I repeatedly politely asked 3 or 4 times if the food could please be brought out, 50 mins after arriving I again urged if the food could be brought out as we had to leave the venue shortly. I had to ask for further water to be brought as by the time the food arrived the drinks were too cold to or already finished to enjoy with the food. Some of the food only finally arrived after a whole hour of waiting and then my now equally unhappy and hungry guests at this time were amazingly told not to eat the food until all of it arrived, by the servers who I had been urging the the food was needed! I was shocked! I urged my guests to eat as we simply couldn't wait any longer. All of the food for all guests didn't arrive and again had to ask for this to be brought out it was an whole hour into our booking when the food for all guests finally arrived. This completely ruined the start of our day of hour after arriving as I had to rush our guests to finish eating as we had to leave for our further booking on the day. I am wholly unhappy with the service provided and it completely ruined the enjoyment of a day I had spent...

Well I was disappointed I'm afraid. I arrived on New Year's Day for lunch. It was pretty quiet and we were easily accommodated despite not having booked. I ordered the beef flank which came with red cabbage, sprouts and mash. When my plate arrived with no sprouts I thought I had misread the menu so I queried it. The waitress told me that they hadn't got any so they had given me extra red cabbage! It's a good job I like red cabbage isn't it, since I wasn't asked if this would be an acceptable substitution. I also had no way of gauging if this had really been the case since the red cabbage portion was pretty small anyway. I had asked for the mash to be swapped for chips which would have been fine had they not been cold on arrival. But the real disappointment was the beef. It was presented in a kind of small pile, the top very dark and overcooked and chewy, as if it had been reheated from the night before. I should really have sent the whole meal back but that would have required energy I didn't have. With a very nice glass of red, the bill was £37. I think this is not good enough. If you are not in a position to offer food of the same quality day-after-day regardless of the night before, then you should be offering a smaller menu of items you know you can deliver to the expected quality. I often come in when I'm on the South Bank. I hope this is a rare blip and not...

Having made a reservation for afternoon tea we were seated on a table in the window with a lovely view of the Thames. Sadly the service fell well below expectations. I asked for some tap water. I had to remind the waiter before he brought it. Only two loose leaf teas were on offer: English breakfast and Earl Grey. I would have expected a much wider range including for example: Darjeeling, Assam, Lap sang su chong. I ordered English breakfast. After it had arrived I realised it was from a tea bag. When I queried this I was informed the loose leaf tea had run out. The afternoon tea then arrived, beautifully presented with some candles as it was my wife's birthday. Unfortunately the waiter forgot to bring any plates, which were certainly required to eat the scones with jam. One of us had to get up and find a member of staff to ask for some plates. The scones and cakes were of good quality. However the bread for the sandwiches was processed white. Would have expected sour dough for the price. In the bathroom the dryer was fitted too close to the wall so you banged your hands when trying to dry them. Finally when we asked for the bill, we again had to get up to ask again with three staff chatting at the till. All in all what could have been a lovely experience was spoiled by inconsistent quality of ingredients and...
