Buenos Aires Richmond Review
Standards High, But not in all areas
Please congratulate our waitress Juliana for a Job well done.
I criticised a restaurant last week for nickel and diming and sneaky £inclusions. I thought i maybe being a bit too picky, but then young Juliana showed how it should be done.
She firstly asked if we wanted still, sparkling or tap water. And when I needed help choosing one of the many Malbecs, she suggested what she thought was the best, even if it wasn't an expensive one.
The waiting time from ordering our drinks, to receiving them, was usually long. I'm not sure if it was something to do with orange juice issue, i will talk about later.
The new improved Buenos Aires Burger was great. I'm not usually a fan of Brioche burger buns. But it worked better than the pitta bread one before.
I was surprised with the size of the restaurant and the amount of seats available, there being only one toilet cubicle for men and one for women.
If you're bursting to go to the toilet and one person is already in there, you will have to stand and wait.
We mentioned in our booking, it was our anniversary. However, there was no acknowledgement of this.
Unfortunately for Buenos Aires Richmond, freshly squeezed orange juice is my favourite nonalcoholic drink. Despite charging me £4.50, they gave me a large glass full of ice and water with what seemed like a shot of orange juice, which I could hardly taste.
It seemed like they didn't have enough or any orange juice. So they decided to squeeze a couple of oranges into a glass, then fill with ice and water.
This poor offering was inconsistent with the high standards displayed in all other areas. It would have been better to either say we have no orange juice or to quickly pop across the road and pick up a small bottle of tropicana and...
Read moreI want to start by saying that the food was amazing. The food wasn't the problem. The waiter was. After explaining to us the menu(the steak board to share) we asked for a couple of minutes to choose as we weren't sure about having that anymore. It was our first time there and despite having red the menu online we wanted to go for the shareboard. But,again, after the waiter's explanation we wanted to have something else,so we needed the time to choose our alternatives(as he came to ask for the order after just 2 minutes we sat down) We were just shocked when he rudely reply "it's not like before covid-19, you don't get to stay here and chitchat for hours. You have to know what you want, we don't have time. Anyway I'll be back to take the order" We order a bottle of wine so he could have bring that to us,giving the proper time to decide our choices. I mean... I get it...things are different and we have to adapt to this situation, but education is something that you still can have. Plus hearing him complaining about his job with the nearby table wasn't the hit. Me and my wife we both work in hospitality and we know how much stressful can be. But... Put your "mask" on and deal with it. You chose this job, the only thing is asked you to do is not be rude with your main source of income. The guest. The food, again, was amazing, we would love to come back. But not with this guy on service. First time ever in London that I had requested to remove the service charge from my bill. And I know that this would affect also the talented people in the kitchen who made us such amazing meat in nice time. But sorry I expect to be welcomed in a restaurant. Not to be a bargain on your shoulder. Anyway thank you for the steaks, they were delicious. Choose your waiters as you choose your meat. Nice...
Read moreNot too good experience. Patronized this establishment on 4th Nov 2018 for lunch with booking made for 12.45pm. Called the restaurant a few days prior to the lunch date requesting for a table for 5 adults for 1 pm and was told that they couldn't take the 1 pm slot and gave us 12.45pm. (A difference of 15 minutes) Accepted the time allotment even though it's silly. The restaurant was not even 2/3 full with patrons. Arrived at 12.45pm and started ordering starter and main course . Starter came 15 minutes after ordering . And main course came 35 minutes after they had collected the starter plates. The food was passed from one end of the long table instead of going around and placing the plates and dishes in front of the customer, most the time. Really rude and lazy servers. The food is nothing to shout about , for I ordered a medium rare steak 310g rib eye and it came almost medium well. Noticed that some of the customers who came in later, got their food earlier. The sauce that was supposed to be with a certain steak was placed on the table without mentioning what it was and who ordered it. Had to request twice for the dessert menu because after waiting for 10 minutes on the 1st request, it never came, had to request again. Again, the desert was served from one end of the long table to be passed to the respective patron. Table was placed in the middle of the restaurant but , hey, too lazy to walk around it. Overall, for such a price and place, the experience was not up to...
