Having frequented the Bull's Head on and off since I first lived in Barnes back in the seventies, I have to say that it has always been a great place, especially with the live music offering. I'm slightly further away now, so my visits are a little less frequent. However, along with a friend, I did attend the 'Broken Blue' show last Saturday. I'd read some of the recent reviews of the venue prior to attending, and was quite surprised to see several mentions of people having picked up covid at the venue. So we took our masks. On arriving no-one was wearing masks, and there did appear to be decent air movement, so we didn't feel the need to wear the masks. We enjoyed a great show from the band, but throughout the evening the music did get progressively louder and louder, to the point where it did become ear-bleedingly painful. Anyway, having enjoyed the evening's music we departed happy ! HOWEVER, some 48 hours later the two of us (and we live separately) each started to feel very unwell and of course the covid LF Tests came out and both of us tested positive. It's taken until now to become well enough to be able to write this review, and I'm still feeling pretty rough. We have absolutely no doubt that the only place we could have picked up the virus was at the Bull's Head, so, a question to management - Are you really making as much effort as you can to combat this virus? Is that air movement simply re-circulating? Something, I suspect, is wrong there. Too many mentions of people coming down with covid. I do hope you can get this sorted and prevent others...
Read moreI was genuinely impressed with the experience I had, from the moment I walked through the doors, I felt at ease straight away. The welcoming atmosphere immediately appeared, as the staff greeting me warmly. This place was more than just a pub; it had a relaxed and happy vibe, with a team of staff who genuinely enjoyed their work and friendly customers who added to the positive energy.
Initially, we only planned to stop in for a drink, but after seeing the inviting lunch menu, we decided to stay for a meal. Based on the glowing reviews and captivating photos online, we travelled some distance, and I’m glad we did.
I want to especially commend Craig, who went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. He offered us a lovely seat upstairs in the restaurant with a perfect view of the river—a stunning sight. Craig’s cheerful demeanour and attentive service made us feel truly welcome. He even walked me through the menu, ensuring I found the perfect dish despite my picky eating habits.
The décor of the place was also exceptional, creating a calm and inviting atmosphere complemented by the lovely music. I’m already planning to bring friends for lunch here very soon. A big thank you to Craig for his outstanding service and the chef for the incredible food. This visit exceeded my expectations...
Read moreFood was good but both times it came without cuttlery. The pub was busy so it took a few minutes until we had their attention and could finally start eating.
They had run out of mayo and could only offer ketchup with my chips. Really?
I ordered 2 beers and the bartender got one glass straight out of the dishwasher so it was super hot. That beer was flat and had no bubbles at all compared to the one in the cold glass. The difference was so obvious and I was quite shocked that he didn't offer to poor a new one. Pooring beer into a hot glass is an absolute no-go and something anyone working at a bar should know.
When the England match was over they turned off the volume of the TV when the next match of the euros started. We had moved to the bar to have a better view of the TV. They took no notice of us watching although we were right there clearly looking at the screen. When we asked if theythould put the volume back on they said they only show England matches 😲 Very disappointing and not the spirit of the euros.
Overall, they are not very attentive towards their guests. I don't think I'm going back there. Too many things went wrong during...
