Cafe House London — Restaurant in London

Good first experience, terrible second experience Good coffee, and i was happy to see there were lots of vegan pastries! First time I went for a soy latte and a savoury mushroom and lentil pastry/pasty, which was tasty.

Unfortunately the second time I went here, they served me mouldy salad. The owner said "oh well unfortunately it happens sometimes and can't be helped" which I thought was a bit rubbish. Yes food goes bad, but you're supposed to check before you put it on someone's plate and it was clearly wilted, gone-off, and old, with the mouldy patch. It completely put me off my appetite. He said "would you like your money back or is it ok" I don't like confrontation so I said it's fine and wanted to leave. He should have just refunded me not go and put me in a further awkward position by asking a leading question like that. he then made me a free coffee. I didn't want to drink two coffees (way too much caffeine!!) so said no thank you but he forced me to take it instead of a refund and I had to put it in the bin when I left. I won't...

I was looking for lunch but wanted a relatively light and quick sandwhich but I didn’t want a supermarket meal deal or a bland coffee chain product. I walked from Clapham South to Clapham North and didn’t see anything on the way until the last moment when I found this place.

I was not informed that choosing the type of bread I wanted (when prompted by the person behind the counter) was going to cost me an extra upgrade fee! Lots of options are offered that appear to be included but then are charged for at checkout. I have also noticed you cannot order a juice during certain opening hours because the close down the juice press hours before they close the cafe.
