After reading so many positive reviews my partner and I decided to try this place, sadly we didn't have the best experience.
Good points: Staff were brilliant, completely faultless and incredibly friendly and attentive. Decor inside was really nice and very well kept.
Bad points: It was really hot (yes, we were in the middle of a heatwave but even with windows open there was no through breeze meaning we were sweating buckets in our seats, there were no ceiling fans, or just stand fans to help. Starter arrived quickly but was mediocre at best, we ordered: Ox-spring ham, chorizo, ham hock terrine, piccalilli, Padron peppers, Ox-spring ham croquettes, caper berries, balsamic onions, cornichons & warm olive bread" and the only decent thing on there was the croquettes. After the starter was cleared away it took just under 50 minutes for our main course to arrive. I ordered the fish and chips and while the fish was ok, it had obviously been sat under a heat lamp for a while as everything on the plate was volcanic hot and dry (the tartare sauce was crispy on top from the heat). My partner ordered the rib eye and that was revolting, it was requested medium rare and it had virtually no fat, was really (really) tough and tasted as though it had been frozen and defrosted in a microwave.
I'm really sad it wasn't better food as everything else was ok, and as it's my 'local' I would have gone back on a...

We arrived on time for our reservation, but it was really cold in there. We asked to change tables and find a warmer spot. We ordered drinks while we waited for the food. The starters took forever to arrive. We asked for some logs for the fireplace and they told us they would have a look for us. After finishing our starter, we ordered more drinks and asked again for logs to a different waiter and she told us she would have another look to get them. We waited 45 minutes for our mains! When they arrived, we asked once again for logs for the fireplace because it was really cold--this time they told us they were really busy but the waiter (a different one) would see what he could do.
We asked a fourth waiter who came to collect our plates; this guy brought the logs right away! Once it started getting warm... we waited another 45 minutes for deserts! Deserts arrived... The cheeseboard was palm-size 3cm thick chunks of cheese! They didn't even bring cutlery to cut it! Asked for the bill... Asked for the manager but they never showed up (since they were busy in the kitchen as we were told).
Arrived at 19:00 and left 22:45. Considering the fact the we pre booked, pre ordered and pre paid the deposit. Really disappointed. We’ve been there many times before but for sure we are not...
