🧂 Salt Festival 2025 – AKA the Worst Meal I’ve Ever Had If your goal is to raise your blood pressure and ruin your mood, congratulations – this place delivers. Every single item on the plate tasted like it had been marinated in the Dead Sea. I didn’t eat lunch today; I licked a salt mine. The rice? Dry and over-salted. How do you even mess up plain rice this badly? The beef was chewy, lifeless, and drowned in a salty sludge pretending to be sauce. I felt like I was chewing cardboard soaked in soy sauce and regret. The fried chicken was a crunchy assault on my taste buds – crispy on the outside, but somehow still managed to be dry and painfully salty inside. It’s like they confused seasoning with sabotage. The onion rings and spring roll? Cold, soggy, and sodium-packed. Honestly, I’ve had better texture and taste in freezer-burned microwave meals. Every bite was a battle against dehydration. I had to drink half a gallon of water just to survive this sodium storm. Whoever cooked this must have mistaken the salt jar for common sense. Final verdict: 0/10. This isn’t food – it’s a salty punishment disguised as a meal. Run.

I had high hopes for this place, but it was a complete disappointment. The buffet was one of the worst I’ve ever had—limited selection, lukewarm food, and nothing tasted fresh. Most of the dishes seemed like they had been sitting out for hours, and some trays were nearly empty with no sign of being refilled. The meats were dry, the vegetables were soggy, and even the desserts looked sad and unappetizing. To make things worse, the atmosphere was just depressing. The decor looked like it hadn’t been updated in decades—worn-out furniture, dim lighting, and an overall dingy feel. It was more like a cafeteria from the past than a restaurant worth paying for. The service wasn’t much better. The staff seemed uninterested, and clearing tables was clearly not a priority, as we had to sit near a pile of dirty dishes for most of our meal. Overall, this place was a complete waste of time and money. If you’re looking for a decent buffet, look elsewhere—I definitely won’t be coming back.

Compared to chinese buffets in Leicester youll come out not smelling like stir fried in this place. Its spacious. We went there on a busy friday holiday. Service crew are kind and amazing. Dimsum station reminds me of the hongkong street foods. I can vouch its flavor is authentic. Specially the char siu bao and siu mai. You just need the right sauce. Soy sauce and chilli! The fried stations varies a lot! From chicken, shrimps, pork ribs, crackers etc (everyone here saying its oily no flavors, guys!! Theres a sauce station) plenty of sauce to choose to remove that satiety. Maybe their fried station needs to be fried on the spot. Some fried items will be more delicious if its fresh from the fryer. Chinese foods are mostly fried so dont come here if you’re not a fan. And lastly guys, the sauce.. dont eat the frieds alone.

Ok look, for £13 all-you-can-eat, I don't know what I was expecting. I'm just a hungry student.

Usually in these situations, I'd take my £13 and contribute it to a big takeaway meal, or find a decent student deal and eat out with my friends at a normal restaurant. I kind of wish I'd done that instead of go to this place.

We arrived at 7pmish on a Thursday, so you'd think the dinner service would be in full swing. Had there actually been food in the serving stations, there would have been a brilliant array! But unfortunately, the usual sweet and sour chicken and ginger prawn dishes aside, there wasn't much left of anything else. No, seriously, the sushi area had two pieces of maki left and 10 empty shelves. The chocolate fountain had nothing to dip apart from 3 leftover marshmallows (again, fab that they have one - just wish we could have tried it).

From what I did try, the standard is pretty much as you'd expect. If you leave steamed dumplings sitting on a hot surface for a long time they'll harden up, and that they did. The duck looked pretty leathery too (from what was left of it. And no pancakes left to speak of either!). Singapore noodles just tasted of curry powder. That said, the sweet & sour chicken was on point, and the egg friend rice was fluffy and delicious. And you know what? You can eat as much as you like of what's there so if you're looking for quantity over quality, this is the place for you. Just don't expect as much variety as advertised.

Will happily give this place another shot and amend my review, next time me and my mates are starving and looking for a hot,...

The food it’s self is amazing and the price is brilliant however last night a few of my girl friends and I visited Kung Fu and everything was going well until we finish our first serving, as soon as someone had finished on the table a waitress was there taking the plate and this continued through out the night, I personally thought maybe they were running low on plates and needed the turn around as quick as possible, then a waitress lent across my friend and her plate of food to take my plate from me which I thought was very rude and unnecessary considering the waitress could just walk round the table to my side. Later in the evening the section we were sitting in was closed and they begun the cleaning process (no where near 11pm closing time) the mop that was used gave off an awful smell of a dirty nappy like it had never been cleaned, we had finished eating by this point and just finishing our drinks, however a waitress then came over to us and said that they were cleaning the area and we needed to move to another table, as we only had drinks left we drank them and decided to leave, (waitresses waiting at the end of the table for us to move) as we stood up to put coats on one Waitress squeezed past a member of our party to get to the table to clean it. All in all I felt it was very poor customer service and clearly they wanted an early finish on a...

I had the pleasure of dining at this incredible Chinese self-service restaurant, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, clean, and vibrant. The décor combined traditional Chinese elements with a modern touch, creating a comfortable and authentic setting.

The food selection was simply outstanding. With an extensive variety of freshly prepared dishes—from classic stir-fries, dumplings, and noodles to more adventurous options like Peking duck and spicy Sichuan-style meats—there was something for everyone. I particularly loved the freshly steamed dim sum and the variety of sauces available to customize each dish.

Everything was well-organized and replenished regularly, so the food stayed hot and delicious. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the flavors were rich and well-balanced. I also appreciated the vegetarian and seafood options, which were clearly labeled and thoughtfully prepared.

The staff was polite and attentive, making sure everything was clean and running smoothly, even though it’s a self-service concept. The pricing was very fair considering the quality and variety offered.

Overall, this is hands down one of the best self-service Chinese restaurants I’ve been to. Whether you’re a fan of Chinese cuisine or just looking to try something new, I highly recommend it. Can’t...
