I’m Portuguese, and I believe frango assado = life! I’ve been coming to Casa do Frango whenever I want to feel like I’m back home - their chicken used to be legit churrasqueira style! They’ve just changed their menu and tableware in what I can only interpret as an attempt to make the restaurant feel more 'London cool' (and less authentically Portuguese). I want to share a few thoughts as someone who genuinely wants Casa do Frango to succeed: First, they removed the stainless steel trays used to serve the chicken. Travessas de inox are as Portuguese as pastéis de nata or azulejos. There’s something poetic and deeply Portuguese about chargrilled chicken resting in a bed of oil on a stainless steel tray, which disappears with the switch to plain white plates. Replacing them is like removing the toast from under your baked beans. Then, they added bacalhau à Brás to the menu, which initially got me excited (Bar Douro's version is really good!). However, I was disappointed to be served dry, unseasoned cod with a handful of fries tossed on top of a mix of the other ingredients, and a slice of lemon on the side. A slice of lemon. On bacalhau à Brás. An act worthy of making Camões lose his other eye. Lastly, you now have to pay £2 for chilli oil (used to be on every table, free of charge). I know we’re in London and everything needs to be paid for, but seriously? It’s just vegetable oil and chillies. If you pulled this in Portugal, you’d be making headlines on the evening news. That said - the chicken is still tasty, the staff are friendly, and the vibe remains nice and spacious. But guys, c’mon, bring back the character. Bring back the travessas de inox, the free chilli oil, and please, leave the bacalhau...

Exceptional Service and Incredible Food - Perfect for Private Events!

I hosted my birthday at Casa do Frango Piccadilly, booking out the beautiful Solmar Room for a themed murder mystery evening with 32 guests. From start to finish, the team delivered exceptional service, managing a large group effortlessly and ensuring the entire night ran smoothly. A special thank-you to Sonia, the events manager, who was beyond helpful throughout the process, from planning through to the event itself. She was present on the night (even though she was not meant to be working that evening!), making sure everything went off without a hitch, and both our waiter and waitress were courteous, professional, and attentive throughout.

The food was absolutely incredible. Everyone, from meat-eaters to those with vegetarian and gluten-free needs, thoroughly enjoyed their meals. While the alternative menus are slightly limited, the quality more than made up for it. My guests were impressed with how flavourful and satisfying everything was.

The Solmar Room is an excellent setting for a private event, warm, stylish, and intimate, while still feeling lively and celebratory. It felt like the perfect backdrop for a birthday celebration and worked beautifully with the murder mystery theme. The entire restaurant feels like you are literally stepping into a restaurant somewhere in Portugal.

I honestly couldn’t recommend Casa do Frango Piccadilly more for private events and just for eating in general. The combination of excellent food, warm service, and seamless coordination made the night unforgettable. A huge thank-you again to Sonia and the team - several of my friends have already returned back multiple times for the...

We visited for dinner on a Saturday evening. This new location is a surprisingly large venue. We were a group of 3 adults and 2 young kids and between us ordered the prawns, bacalhau, 3 half chickens, 3 chips, green rice, garlic mushrooms and the cauliflower. We tried the chocolate mousse, pastel de nata and some ice cream for dessert. The food was generally very good. The main item - the chicken - was perhaps not as exciting as some of the side dishes though! While decent, it was a bit dry, and also much smaller than expected - not quite a baby chicken but not a regular size either. The accompanying peri peri sauce was excellent though, and we also really enjoyed the green rice and - surprisingly - the cauliflower too. Desserts were also very good, and I liked that the pastel de nata was served warm.

Service was friendly but slow and disorganised at times. It was difficult to get the attention of waiting staff. Some of the drinks orders were extremely slow to arrive but most of the food arrived fairly quickly.

The bill for our group came to £226, of which £110 was spent on drinks. The drinks added up, but food prices seemed quite reasonable considering the quantity we ordered. Overall, a solid meal, but not quite as great as my experience at the London Bridge location last year. As for the main question - is it better than Nandos? In my view, the chicken itself is definitely superior (and much larger!) at Nandos, but Casa do Frango stood out more for the overall menu variety and some of the excellent sides, and their peri peri sauce too. I would happily return to...

Casa do Frango: A Taste of Southern Portugal in Central London Craving a delicious Sunday lunch with a twist? Look no further than Casa do Frango on Heddon Street! This hidden gem transports you straight to the Algarve with its authentic Portuguese cuisine. We dove headfirst into their signature Casa Rice – a flavourful mix of Portuguese rice, usually with chorizo (we opted without), crispy chicken skin, and sweet plantain. The Bacalhau Fritters were divine – fluffy cod fritters nestled amongst roasted potatoes and caramelised onions, with refreshing lemon aioli for dipping. The Piri Piri Garlic Prawns were another highlight – succulent and bursting with Algarvian sunshine. For the main course, the star of the show was undoubtedly the Frango Piri Piri Chicken. Perfectly grilled over wood charcoal, the chicken was brushed with their secret piri-piri blend, offering a delightful smoky heat. We paired it with an array of delicious sides – sweet potato in a creamy red pepper yoghurt sauce, classic Portuguese chips, fire-roasted green vegetables, and a refreshing cornbread crumb topping. No Portuguese meal is complete without dessert, and Casa do Frango didn't disappoint. We devoured the Pastel de Nata (the iconic Portuguese custard tart), a rich chocolate mousse, and the Bolo de Bolacha, a unique biscuit cake with layers of Maria cookies, vanilla cream, and salted caramel. A big shoutout to Jamie and Amelie B for their friendly and attentive service! Casa do Frango is a must-visit for anyone seeking a flavorful and authentic Portuguese experience in the heart of London.

I really wanted to come here when it first opened, but x months later, here I go. A lovely little place tucked away from regents street. It was incredibly busy and they didn’t have our table ready when we arrived. The menu isn’t extensive, the main focus really is chicken, which works fine for me, that’s their thing. Vegetarians however would really struggle although there are some vegan appetisers. We got the croquettes, sourdough (from Dusty Knuckle which was delightful), 1.5 chickens with peri peri, the rice, hospitality cabbage and fries. Honestly the chicken as very nice and you get quite a bit for a restaurant in that location. I expected more Mayfair pricing but it’s reasonable. The star for me however was the rice. OMG i could just eat that alone. Forget the fries cos you can get that anywhere and they’re not particularly special. The rice had chorizo, peas, crispy chicken skin and plantains. ALL MY FAVOURITES. Order many rice over and over again and you won’t be disappointed. The peri peri sauce had a good kick to it, not too mild which I thought it may be considering it’s not a Nando’s with levels to the spice, there’s just one. Really recommend overall, good price, good portions and nice drinks. Can’t complain. Well if I were vegetarian, I would. But I’m not thankfully in this case. We also got a pastel de nata which was super liquidy. Is it meant to be that way? Not sure, but great taste anyway! Will be coming back again
