Pub has seen many managers over a few yrs. But now the place has lost its charm as a friendly meeting place. All regulars have left and drink in other establishments nearby. Theres no friendly welcome anymore. Throw in the redecorating and attempting to bring it into the 2020s does the pub no favours whats so ever. What newcomers see entering the pub and theres not many, even on music nights anymore, might be impressed. But us old timers who have been drinking there for 20 yrs or more, today dont like what we have witnessed. As explain earlier. Excellent managers have come and left for whatever personal reasons. But a pub is meant to be a place where you can relax and catch up with old and not so old aquaintances. Today with no regulars,no charm and more to the point not made to feel welcome has driven people away from what has been an institution for many people. Read moreAmateur hour at this establishment. I spent over three hours and nearly £40 here, when there were about three other people in the pub, to watch a cricket ODI. The second a bunch of men turned up to watch the golf, that was all forgotten. Despite selling themselves as a 'sports bar', they are unable in 2022 to show more than one Sky channel simultaneously. The landlord and chief barmaid then started to pass snide remarks about my request to keep the cricket on, so I left, as it is clear the pub is run by people without scruples. The alleged 'golf fans' were all in the front beer garden ten minutes later as we finished our drinks up outside. Not a serious location. Won't be returning even if it were the last pub on the planet. The fact they had their beer garden locked on the hottest day of the year is the icing on a particularly...
Read moreGreat place to watch live sport and good atmosphere to share the emotion of the anticipated win (or may be loss ;-) ) Friendly members of staff and management. Reasonable prices. Garden area and rejuvenated stables are ideal to host functions. There was a Beckenham Book Festival on Sunday 2nd July. Maybe not an obvious match of venue initially but worked really well. Support from the manager and team to set up etc.. was much appreciated. A good advert to support a local Pub adjacent to the High Street which is a vital part of...
