This place used to be two streets ,between albemarle road and the start of the graveyard Hitlers V bombs put an end to that,,including a hotel that was based there ,,the grand hotel,;i think ,,anyway one bomb landed in the area of where the new police station is and the other 2 or 3 weeks later landed where the start of the pathway is oposite the car park only 20 yards or so away from the original bomb,,a testament the the technology of the nazis ,,thank god we won,,it looked like a picture from stalingrad. Read moreA lovely little oasis alongside a busy road, rather surreal at times. We visited when there was a giant screen erected for Wimbledon followed by a film. We took a picnic with us and it was just so lovely sitting on their free deckchairs (or picnic rug if all the deckchairs taken). Even without Wimbledon fortnight/screen/deckchairs it's still a lovely place to take your lunch/coffee to sit and watch the world go by. Plenty of parking/food/coffee establishments close by so no forward...
