Arrived earlier than planned but it was not a problem. Waitress was very welcoming. Ordered Halloumi starter which when arrived was great. The rest of the food unfortunately wasn’t. The mixed root veg was just warm at best, spinach looked dry and again was just warm. We ordered a whole chicken. Being a Chicken restaurant you would expect it to be good. They have a very impressive rotisserie however I could see it was not on and there were a lot of chickens on the rods just sitting there. Rotisserie chicken you expect to be served hot and juicy, everything the chicken presented to us was not. Again it was just warm at best and dried out. I brought this to the attention of the waitress who apologised and took it away. When the sides came back they were hot but no care had been taken to make them look anywhere near presentable just looked bashed around. When they explained the chicken would just be reheated I said that was not acceptable, it would only get more dehydrated and tough and chicken reheated for a third time is not safe. The waitress could not be more accommodating but the method of preparation in the kitchen is certainly something to be reviewed. The manager agreed and removed the chicken from the bill. I also felt that the restaurant was focussing to much on meeting the constant demand of home deliveries clearly being processed over the people in the restaurant. The people on the next table waited for 25 mins between ordering and receiving their starters. Overall a very dissatisfied visit and certainly not up to the standard we have experienced in the Other cocotte restaurants we have been to. Will not...
Read moreDon't bother. This will be the first and last time we show up spontaneously to a cafe without reading the reviews first. Never have we felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable sitting in an establishment like we have today. Walking in to no greeting or smile should have been the first clue of terrible customer service, not to mention when asking for a table for 4 to be told "Sit there if you want" begrudgingly. We then proceeded to sit reading and re reading the same menu for the for seeable future until we plucked up the courage to ask someone to take our order. As each one of us ordered, after each item the waitor kept saying "Is that it?" .. £14 for a chicken burger thats been so deep fried it's now more breadcrumb than meat. Awful value. When the food was plonked on the table by the miserable staff, we had to practically apologize for asking for butter and mayonaise. Unsure what this mayo was made from but £2 per small pot (not mentioned until it was noticed on the bill) The icing on the cake for us was the expected 12.5% tip on top of our bill. When we came to paying and split our bill minusing the "discretionary" tip already added, we had the very angry tall man we can only assume was the manager come over to the table and I quote say "What's the problem, whats wrong with the service"
As we did not have time to reel off the never ending list of reasons as to why any of the staff did not deserve a tip. And as much as the manager was looking for a confrontational argument Infront of the whole cafe we left this as... "This is a discretionary service charge so read your...
Read moreI was really looking forward to coming here as it had been recommended by a chef on Topjaw. I booked it for my little girls 11th birthday, and made that note in the reservation. We got to the restaurant and they pandered to the needs of a lady in front of me who hadn’t booked but was in a rush and wanted a table. When it came to us they basically threw us in the corner window seat and did not come and take our order for 15 mins. We eventually ordered our drinks and then they forgot to take our orders for food, another 10 mins later they took our food order. We then had to rush as we had to be at a show for 3pm. We ordered the 1/2 chicken and the chicken burger. Plus sides of cauliflower, broccoli, Mac n cheese. The chicken burger was soggy and chips were cold, the cauliflower was freezing in the middle and the broccoli soggy. I returned the cauliflower and they heated it up in the microwave; it was therefore returned soggy. The 1/2 chicken was luke warm. By this time I didn’t want to become a nuisance so made no comment and we left the remaining food and got the bill. Whilst I was in the restaurant I had left my base charger plugged into the wall. When I phoned to get it 10 mins after leaving they said they did not have it. They would look but it was doubtful they would find it. Finally the icing on the birthday girls cake was that they didn’t acknowledge it was her birthday treat even though I had mentioned it. I would not recommend and have also let topjaw know.. really disappointed in the service and food. Guys, if there was anything you could do, at least...
