A really disappointing experience from the moment we walked through the door. It took the hostess very long to acknowledge us and once she did, there was no friendly greeting. She told us that it would be a 20 minute wait and we would get a text once our table was ready - we thought this was great. We went for a wonder around and only after 5 minutes we got a text, this was great we didn’t have to wait longer but it just seemed like the hostess was trying to get rid of us beforehand. Again, we waited at the door and it look a very long time for anyone to speak to us, finally taking us to our table with very little welcome. The waitress came over to take our order but again very unfriendly and when we asked questions about the menu, she spoke to us like we were stupid. The food and drinks were okay. One of the people I was with, their food did not come with ours and it took the waitress over 15 minutes to come over where we told her we had not got all our food. She then said sorry bluntly but nothing else, so we were very confused to if they were even bringing it. It finally arrived after the rest of us had finished eating. No one came to check afterwards and the waitress saw we were finished multiple times, but we ended up asking someone else for the bill. The bill then included a 13% added service tip, which I am usually happy to pay but the service and atmosphere was awful, potentially some of the most unfriendly service I have ever had, feeling very unwelcome. I understand it can get busy but after we arrived there was only 4 other tables. I hope this is something that you can sort out as otherwise we would have had a...

Don’t go here if you’re depressed, the staff here are so glum they’d send you over the edge. And definitely don’t go here if you're hungry!

This is the second time I’ve eaten here, the last time being about a year ago. We weren’t impressed last time but it was conveniently located so thought we would try them again. Big mistake!

Shrinkflation has certainly hit all there dishes and the dishes we ordered were noticeably smaller, including the drinks.

I went for the Marcus Breakfast which is some unusual take on the full English. If I were Marcus I certainly wouldn’t want my name attached to that monstrosity You’ll see from the attached picture there was more plate than food. The “two eggs” as described on the menu turns out to be the tiniest quails eggs I’ve seen. And what I did get was overcooked, flavourless and just sad looking.

Both times I’ve been to this cafe I’ve asked for ketchup and both times they’ve made a fuss about giving me some. They clearly don’t think ketchup is appropriate and will do what they can to stop you having it. Just like last time, after asking for ketchup the sever spoke with the manager about it then conveniently “forgot it”. This happened both times I’ve been. Oh and if you like salt and pepper don’t expect to have that on your table, obviously they know better and you won’t have it. Snobs.

Lastly, before you leave make sure you scrutinise your bill. It seems they add a £1 charge for “Streetsmart Charity”, no explanation, opt-in. it’s just added without your knowledge or permission. I’m sure this could be illegal.

Anyway, stay away from this tourist trap, anywhere else...

I was in Paris for 4 days and didn’t ate as good as I did at Brothers Marcus!

I would like to share my experience in more details. Last month, my friend and I were looking for a restaurant at lunchtime and we came across Brother Marcus by chance. All the tables were already taken but the friendly waiter had informed us, that a place would be free for us in a short time. After a few minutes, we were already sitting at our table.

The restaurant is lovely and modern. The menu is very appealing and there is something for every taste. We ordered SWEET POTATO FRITTERS with HALLOUMI and FRIED CHICKEN ROSTI with BACON.

Although the restaurant was very full, we didn't had to wait long for our food. Every plate were prepared with love and the waiters round off the stay with their kindness and attention. Specially, Klaudia.

The food exceeded all my expectations. I was in Paris for four days and never ate as good as I did at Brother Marcus. I was particularly enchanted by the sauce. Which is called "Kasundi Jam". After our brunch, Klaudia was so nice and surprised me with some packaged sauce to take away.

We can't thank enough the entire Brother Marcus team for this excellent experience! You are one of the reasons why our short trip to London was unforgettable! We wish the whole team all the best and a happy new year!

Best wishes from Germany.

P.S.: If I have now whetted your appetite, I can only recommend the cookbook! Because I...

Paid £48 for what you can see in the picture (2 small dishes, 2 coffees and an orange juice). The portion was ridiculous and served on a small plate. I had the potato fritters, £17.50 after added service charge for a portion of 3 small fritters made of potato and carrot, with a tiny bit of avocado mash in between. There was some yoghurt with turmeric around the fritters. The dish didn't taste anything other than curry powder and was very mushy. No crisp at all. The green crispy kale around it was very sparse. I'd wished for the fritters to be actually crunchy on the outside, have some interesting flavours etc. Was supposed to come with a poached egg but tbh the egg was so tiny and overcooked that it barely existed. Never seen a smaller poached egg. I was of course still hungry after eating it. Coffees and juice were lovely. The picture turned out great so I guess it's one of those hyped instagram-photo places. Very annoyed as I chose it from the good review, currently 4.7. Very disappointing for me. I love food. I didn't think the description in the menu reflected what I got on my plate. Nothing wrong with the actual ingredients used though, it was fresh and made Lovingly so I didn't send it back. But I felt like the whole experience was a rip-off. My wife liked her dish, however also very small portion. The room is small and a bit crowded.
