From Cold Bread to Cold Attitude – A Total Disgrace to Banh Mi
I’ve eaten banh mi all over the world, and I did three tours in Vietnam—so I know what a real one tastes like. What I was served here wasn’t just bad—it was a disgrace. The bread was stone cold, like it had just come out of a fridge. Dry, stiff, and completely lifeless. The fillings were bland and uninspired, thrown together with zero care or respect for the dish.
Worse than the food was the service. The manager—a very rude, European-looking woman—looked like she hated being there and took it out on anyone who dared to speak to her. When I politely mentioned the bread was cold, she gave me a glare that could curdle milk. No apology, no effort to fix it, just a cold shrug and a vibe that screamed, “Take it or leave it.”
Well, I left it. I tossed the sandwich half-eaten and walked away—still hungry and thoroughly annoyed.
Thankfully, a few streets away I found another Vietnamese spot (Eat Viet) that was packed—always a good sign. The staff were warm and welcoming, and their banh mi? Absolutely spot on. Fresh, crispy bread, perfect balance of flavors, and made with pride.

Read moreI had a wonderful experience at this Vietnamese restaurant! As a tourist, I was looking for authentic food at a reasonable price — and this place delivered perfectly. The dishes were fresh, flavorful, and especially the pho and spring rolls really impressed me. The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff were friendly and happy to recommend local favorites. Prices were very affordable. If you get the chance, you should definitely give it a try — well worth it and...
Read moreI used to love this place but somehow haven't been for a while so stopped by when I was walking past. I got a prawn stir fry and SO disappointed 😞 a few prawns, veggies that feel raw, undercooked and taste like they have been cooked in a bit of water - there is no oil or sauce to keep it together with the mountain of rice it comes with...not worth £11 or so. It's like a diet version...
