Excellent Korean food: delicious, authentic, and generous portion sizes.
I went to Kimchimama with my family, only a few steps away from Farringdon station.
My family was impressed by the huge portion sizes and lovely service. I had the Sweet & Chilli Korean Fried Chicken Cupbap, and my parents ordered the Soft-Tofu Jjigae and Spicy Pork Cupbap with a side of Soy Garlic Korean Fried Chicken.
Both the Sweet & Chilli Korean Fried Chicken and the Soy Garlic Korean Fried Chicken had a delicious flavour. The Sweet & Chilli Korean Fried Chicken had a bit of heat without being too spicy, and the Soy Garlic (my personal favourite) was moreish. The impressive thing about fried chicken at Kimchimama is how they manage to keep the outside super crispy without compromising the amount of sauce coating it.
I was expecting the cupbaps to have a few pieces of meat on top of the rice, but no, a whole half of the cup contained meat! The salad on the cupbaps complemented it nicely, and the sauce on the salad was also very tasty. On the topic of salad, I just want to mention how there was salad with the Soy Garlic Korean Fried Chicken, elevating the dish with another source of crunch.
My mum loved the Soft-Tofu Jjigae, which says a lot since she cooks Soft-Tofu Jjigae too. She was also impressed by how much seafood was in the jjigae. The soup had the perfect flavour and consistency that allowed the silky texture of the soft tofu to shine.
I am definitely going to be coming back here, and highly recommend Kimchimama to those looking for tasty, authentic, Korean-approved...
Read moreDon't let the small establishment fool you, nor ghe simple serving, this is a hidden gem. The quality of this food is absolutely amazing. Portion was larger than I anticipated leaving me quite full at the end. Maybe it was the fact I was scrapping my dish for every little bit of that delicious sauce with my last lettuce leaf. I couldn't help drinking every drop of the broth either. Kimchi is so healthy too. The meals are prepared with such quality ingredients that it was only after the owner explained to me the importance of the relationship between health and quality ingredients, that it made sense why I loved it so much. My long reviews are based on my passion towards what I found. I have so many options still to try there and for what they charge, its a no brainer. If you are going by here, you won't disappointed. They have a quick tablet order system and plenty of chairs. If it isn't busy, definitely chit chat with the owner. He's such friendly and down to...
Read moreAmazing Korean Food in London! Yesterday, my family and I visited Kimchimama near St. Paul’s Cathedral with my Irish friend of 28 years, and we had a wonderful experience. The food was fresh, clean, and incredibly delicious. Even my children and my wife kept saying how much they loved it.
The kimchi was the best I’ve ever had—even better than some I’ve tried in Korea! My Irish friend was so impressed that he said he would come back soon with his friends. He also mentioned how kind and welcoming the restaurant owner was, which made the visit even more special.
We will be leaving London in two days, while our daughter stays here for her studies. Having our last dinner together at this restaurant made it a memory we will never forget. We will definitely come back the next time we visit London!
If you are in London, I highly recommend visiting Kimchimama. It’s a fantastic place to enjoy delicious...
