Clifford’s restaurant — Restaurant in London

I recently visited Cliffords and immediately wanted to try their First Table offer. Initially, I wasn't sure if the place was open from the entrance, but it turned out to be a wonderful Italian restaurant in the basement. The ambiance was really nice.

The staff were exceptionally attentive to allergens and were very polite and friendly. We were planning to order the arancini and meatballs, but our waiter informed us that the meatballs were a pork-beef mix, so we decided not to get them. The arancini was truly exceptional.

We then ordered the mushroom pizza and buffalo pizza. We would have loved to stay and enjoy the atmosphere for hours, but unfortunately, we were in a bit of a hurry and had to leave. The kitchen team did an excellent job, and since we were the first customers of the First Table offer, they sent us Nutella donuts on the house. I must say, it was the best warm donut I’ve ever had. The cinnamon and orange zest created a fantastic aroma.

Atmosphere was very inviting and we were encouraged by previous reviews so swung in for dinner. We were the only ones there when we arrived. We were offered the happy hour drink menu & ordered off of it. Mushroom Arancini balls were very good as was the special Lamb Neck skewer. My husbands tomato & mozzarella pizza was good although the sauce lacked flavor. I ordered the special pizza and was disappointed as the topping were lacking. Not a single piece had all of the toppings advertised and most toppings were on only 2 slices. We were charged full price for our drinks and were told that the server didn’t enter the drinks before the happy hour cutoff. It was adjusted, partially, but with push back. Honestly, Clifford’s is extremely difficult to fault. The exquisite seasonal menu is obviously very thought out and the space itself has captured a cosy yet sophisticated vibe. I’d recommend dining here with friends as you’ll find it difficult to choose between the incredible pizza (best I’ve had outside of Italy) and their impressive range of main courses. They catered wonderfully for my vegan friend with both pizza and main course options which she was extremely grateful as she mentioned this is not the case in many places.
