Went there two weeks ago, as one of our first dine out in Wapping since the lock down. There was only one other table beside ours.
The charcuterie we had to start was pretty good. But our evening went downhill from the moment our mains arrived. I had the broccoli and sausage pasta and my girlfriend had the pumpkin tortellini.
The broccoli in my dish must have been boiled with the pasta, it was grey, mushy, and the pasta was over cooked. My plate was garnished with sprinkle of white pepper (strange choice). I thought the grey slush may be authentic home cooking. My first bite was completely tasteless, stirring the dish, I found a short dark hair.
The tortellini was under cooked, some of the pasta was still raw. The sauce it came in was thick and starchy, and it looked like the cooking water. The plate again was garnished with sprinkle of white pepper.
We sent back the tortellini, the replacement was no better, some of it was still raw. I told the waitress about the hair I found in my food, she told me it must have been mine because it was dark. There were 3 guys working in the kitchen, 2 with dark hair and one blonde...
The overall bill was £70 for 2 people, no alcohol. It was pretty expensive for our horrible experience. We will not...
Read moreI hate to leave a less than brilliant review for an independent/ family owned restaurant but I hope this feedback, after being shared during our visit, will be taken onboard…for their benefit…as there is a lot of potential!
Lovely staff and lovely clean environment. However, be careful to ask for the price of specials; they’re recommended, which is great, but they’re c100% more expensive than the most expensive main meal on the menu and without justification. The owners would do well to feature specials on a chalkboard with prices to avoid this issue.
There was also dance music playing throughout. A far cry from more fitting and relaxing traditional Italian music but based on the friendliness of staff I suspect they would have addressed this if asked. Perhaps if we visited later in the night it would have been different anyway so don’t let this...
Read moreCame here as the other restaurant nearby was fully booked so not sure what to expect. The food was not disappointing - not the fancy classy type of Italian food but the homemade kind (just as the name suggests). The veal tortelloni was recommended to me as I asked for a tomato based pasta dish - the sauce was rich and flavourful. I liked the idea of putting tiramisu in a little plant pot, but the chocolate chips are a bit extra for me (also too many of them), kinda ruined the dessert but overall a nice experience. One addition star for the very...
