Random discovery after a long walk on a hot day and very glad to have stopped by. Ooo the food was delectable, fresh and yummy. The kind that puts you in a happy good mood and feel cosy inside. So good I forgot to take pictures, stayed in the moment and forgot everything else, so here's what I remember. The Plaice special was succulently delicate melt in your mouth goodness my my my and it was fresh with no fishy odour. Served with crispy chips, non oily and tasty. Porcini croquetas simply put, please sir can I have some more? The pesto that accompanied the steak was so lovely I was cheeky dipping my chips into it. I can say though, even in my food state limerance I did not like the sirloin steak, still to be converted but not this time, not my plate not my taste buds. The manchego cheesecake was nice, I love desserts and would have loved a biscuit base but the creaminess was lovely. Strawberry sangria was light to the buds, not stingy on the fresh strawberries, ticked off 1 of 5 a day. How can I forget the bread! Sooo good, wow I should have asked to purchase a loaf to take home. Amazing service from the moment you walk in, served promptly and politely by a lady with wine coloured hair and glasses, what a kind genuine and dazzling smile to boot. Now you know I have to comment, yep toilet cleanliness on point! Would I visit again? Most definitely, so delightful when you find gems locally without needing to travel into Central and pay much much more for smaller portions......
Read moreWe ate at the restaurant this evening, the restaurant itself was nice, lots of plants and homely decor. Food was OK, nothing particularly stood out for us, but we thought the prices were reasonable and portions were generous and liked that it is local. Unfortunately, the customer service from our waitress from the outset was very rude and hostile, so on that basis alone we would not return. The other lady working in the stripey jumper was lovely, however. We arrived early to our 7pm booking but felt our waitress rushed us to order from arrival when we'd said we'd like to wait. Our waitress begrudgingly allowed us to sample a couple of wines before we purchased a bottle, but provided no help or insight into the menu or about the wine list, it certainly was not service with a smile! The food came out fairly immediately and all together rather than staged, which we thought quite odd for tapas but to be fair the kitchen did try to ammend this for us. When we asked if we could have a second glass of wine at 9.15pm on a Friday evening, she checked her watch, sighed and said the licence expires at 10pm so we didn't bother! Had the restaurant been full and needing to turn over the table we would have understood, but this was...
Read moreDon Francisco Y La Luna is a tapas style restaurant which manages to capture the bar that does tapas atmosphere even though its set up as a restaurant. As with all tapas restaurants one has little idea how much to order, its easy to think tapas are small dishes and order too much but at Don Franciso Y La Luna three delicious dishes from the day's specials and some croquettas were more than enough for two. The staff are nicely attentive, there when you need them not "is everything OK can I get you something else" every 5 minutes so you can eat at to your own schedule.
Overall this is a very pleasant place to eat, colourful and comfortable...
