Draughts Stratford — Restaurant in London

I would definitely recommend anyone who is interested in board games to go; an amazing board game bar, with a great selection of games, great food, and a great staff.

The following takes it down from five to four stars: we wanted to go to their Waterloo branch, but it was closed for renovation, with no information on neither the web page nor Google. Stratford is pretty unavailable unless you live in the area web page is generally not super helpful; couldn't get the games list to filter, and often had trouble opening the menu tables were amazing for two players, with space underneath for things you don't use while playing, but as is our experience with other board game places as well: there's struggle to fit the components with more players, if you play more complex games. We could not have played Finspan if we had been just...

The venue has good vibes. The day was hot but inside was comfortable and well-lit without being too bright. There's a solid selection of modern boardgames, spread over two floors. All the games are new, too, which I hadn't actually experienced at a boardgame cafe before!

The staff were great. Emma welcomed us and Pearl served us, and both were friendly, enthusiastic and engaged, service was quick and accommodating.

The food was fine, if a little pricey. The sweet potato fries would benefit from a little more crisp on them, and the chicken burger felt like it needed a little more sauce or salad or something to justify the £16 tag on it, but it was tasty and filling. The halloumi fries were lovely.

Seats are priced (at the time of writing) at £7.50/£9.50...

Draughts Stratford brings the best of their other venues to a huge space with loads of natural light, great layout and most importantly. Noise. Cancelling. Curtains. I'm so happy this is on my doorstep, but my bank balance is already very sad. The food is great, the shrimp popcorn (prawns) are a particular highlight but the tacos and gyoza were also great. They've got a great selection of drinks, although it would be good to see more low cal options, they have a fantastic array of low alcohol options which taste wonderful!
