Alright hear me now, this Gambian fusion restaurant called Eazy kitchen situated in south London. Coming with vibes, flavours and their own homemade drinks can’t really get better than that. I tried as much as possible to get a feel for the quality and flavour of the food. I got the mix grill meat platter; coming with beef suya, safna grilled chicken, Afra (Senegalese/Gambian street food grilled meat) , wings, lamb ribs and mixed sauces costing just under £20 . I also got prawn Akara which is prawns fried in a black eyed beans batter covered with safna mayo on a bed of coleslaw with a side of onion sauce. Jollof rice, meat pie and two drinks a mango lassi and a mocktail called tropical sunrise. Fantastic, friendly service from everyone there. Homemade mango Lassi - I have never actually tried a mango Lassi but I was impressed that they were homemade in their own branded bottle. It was thick, sweet, refreshing kinda like the best parts of a mango in a drink but with natural yogurt and it was indulgent and almost addictive as when I finished it I became sad that I didn’t buy two it was that good would definitely buy more the next time I go. 10/10 Prawn Akara - This was recommended to me by my server Ibrahim who again was fantastic. To be honest I was very intrigued by the black eye beans batter but it actually worked really well with the prawns. Well flavour, VERY hot I definitely burnt my gum on them but I would definitely get it again it’s a light snack that works well with the onion sauce. 7.8/10 Meat pie - I was interested as a Ghanaian we do our own version of meat pie which I’ve always enjoyed so I was excited to see their take on it. I can say it was nice the pastry had this really nice flavour to it that I couldn’t grasp what it was but I liked it a lot. It was completely filled with the meat filling which was nice but I will say I wished the meat had more depth of flavour or maybe some spice but overall it was nice. 6.8/10 Jollof rice - This was nice it had a smoky flavour which I believe is essentially to a good jollof rice. I just feel it needed that extra kick of spice to take it up a notch but maybe Gambian Jollof isn’t meant be spicy which that’s the case then it is a pretty decent one. 6.5/10 Meat platter - This was a feast in itself, so much variety in meat different textures, seasoned well, cooked fantastically. My favourite type of meat on the platter was between those perfectly grilled wings that had a beautiful char to them, the lamp rib that were succulent, flavoured well and taken further with that safna barbecue sauce. My least favourite being the beef suya I just don’t think the seasoning on it worked for me but the platter as a whole was brilliant. 7.6/10 Tropical sunrise - it was a sweet and tasty mocktail if you like sweet drinks you would love it and if you have a sweet tooth you with definitely consider buying another. 8.5/10 Overall I’ll give this place 8/10, I really enjoyed I will definitely visit again and I recommend you to go and check it out. After seeing this restaurant a lot on social media, and my Uncle really wanting to go here, we thought we would give this place a try 8/11/24. On arrival the waiter was not welcoming as she unlocked the door to the restaurant. We had to literately ask her “are u open?”. She replied with “yeah” and kind of left us to wonder to our seat. There was no smiley face, “hello” or “welcome”. Her facial expression was very blank and she looked like she didn’t want to be there working, and on a few occasions I did notice that she was busy scrolling on her phone by the front. However we proceeded to place our order and ordered some drinks. I had the Ginger & Apple juice bottle drink and it was AWFUL. To me it tasted literally like sugar and water only with a tiny hint of ginger in it. This was not worth £4.95 🤦🏽‍♀️. I was very disappointed with the drink menu and notice that normal drinks like Fanta, Sprite & coke was not available. For my main I decided to have the grilled chicken and jellof rice. This was absolutely fantastic! 🫶🏾. My food tasted very very nice and had lots of flavor. Our Portion size was fine but it’s a shame the plates were not a little bit bigger as you have to be extremely careful when eating, as food can spill over the edges. I also tasted the chicken bites and this was lovely too 👌🏽. It was very well seasoned and very crunchy which was nice. The dips that come with the food was very nice especially the red one. Overall I loved the food!! and I would definitely visit again. If the customer service from the Muslim girl with scarf on was more on point I would have given this place a higher rating. Her aura was VERY COLD and not ONCE this she ask us if our food was ok or do we need anything else. I had to ask for a glass and a straw and if she could have would have rolled her eyes as she walked away to get it for me. We decided NOT to pay the £6 service charge as we did not receive good service from the young girl who served us. She seemed more shocked at the fact that we didn’t want to pay it, rather than ask us was there something wrong with the service? Anyhow she then recalculated our bill and we proceeded to make payment. As we made our way to the door there was no goodbye. I even complimented how nice the food was to her on our way out, but her facial expression was very blank and again if she could have rolled her eyes she would have. The bad customer service that myself & my uncle received let our visit to the restaurant down, but thankfully we still enjoyed our meal and have no regrets coming 🙂. Hopefully next time we will receive good basic customer service with a smile.

Rating this a one star because we didn’t end up eating here so we couldn’t actually experience the restaurant in full. We had a booking for 8pm and thought it best to arrive a little early just to be on time as it was our first time being here and we wanted to enjoy the experience. Rather than telling us to wait as they didn’t have our table ready they sat us down at 7:48pm we didn’t receive any menus until 7:54pm so service was just quite slow which is understandable as they seemed to only have one server managing the entire restaurant. However, the issue came when she asked if our table was still a 5 to which we replied that it wasn’t unfortunately as one person had dropped out as we arrived at the restaurant.

The server then responded that we had to move from the table she sat us at because there was a group of four ladies sat at the table previously that she moved to accommodate us, (we obviously appreciated being sat early but we would have also happily understood that our table was not ready and that we should come back for 8pm). The server made it clear that us turning up early was unfair to the group as she moved them to accommodate us and that we needed to move because it was unfair to them, we asked where should we move and she pointed to a dirty table that a family had just finished on and said it would be cleaned for us but we needed to understand the predicament she was in. The main issue is that once the table was clean and then making a scene and making us feel a little uncomfortable and a little embarrassed like we had made a scene to be sat early she ended up moving that 4 girls to the table that they had just cleaned and then told us to just stay where we were. Safe to say we walked out of the restaurant at 8:05pm no one noticed which just further speaks to the running of this establishment. I do wish them all the best as it would have been nice to support a black business but I will not be spending money on a restaurant that doesn’t uphold basic...
