El Cenote: A Hidden Gem in Camden

Camden has a new star on its culinary scene, and its name is El Cenote. This authentic Mexican restaurant is a vibrant explosion of flavours that will transport you straight to the heart of Mexico.

From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere was electric. The staff were incredibly welcoming, with a special shoutout to Anna, the mixologist, who created one of the most refreshing mocktails I’ve ever tasted. Riley and Angela were also fantastic, ensuring our dining experience was top-notch.

Let's talk food. The guacamole was a creamy dream, packed with fresh flavours. The ceviche Sinaloa was a burst of citrusy freshness, with the seabass perfectly cooked. We couldn’t resist trying the quesadillas, and the mushroom option was a delightful surprise. The esquites were a revelation - sweet corn elevated with the perfect blend of spices and textures.

The tuna tostadas were a standout, with the fresh tuna complementing the chipotle mayo beautifully. The Baja fish tacos were another winner, with the batter perfectly crispy and the flavours bursting with life. The pollo al carbon taco, while tasty, could have benefited from a bit more seasoning.

Mira's King Prawn Al Tequila was a rich and indulgent dish, perfect for sharing. The prawns were cooked to perfection, and the tequila sauce added a unique twist.

For dessert, we tried the Impossible Chocolate flan. While it had a unique taste, it wasn’t our favourite. However, it’s clear why it's popular as we saw it ordered by many other tables.

The Passion Island mocktail was an absolute standout. Made with homemade banana elixir, it was a tropical paradise in a glass.

El Cenote is still relatively new, but it's clear they're already making waves in Camden. With its authentic food, fantastic staff, and vibrant atmosphere, it's no wonder this place is quickly becoming a local favourite. We can’t wait to go back and explore more...

I absolutely loved my visit to El Cenote and wholeheartedly recommend it!

My friend and I dined here, and we were blown away. First impressions: the decor is fabulous with meticulous attention to detail. The colors, tiles, artwork, and textiles were a feast for the eyes—authentically Mexican yet fresh, modern, and creative. The atmosphere was both fun and welcoming, trendy and intimate.

We received a warm welcome. The staff were attentive, polite, efficient, and friendly, accommodating all our requests with prompt service.

We thoroughly enjoyed our drinks—my margarita was fantastic and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. We had a selection of different dishes between us and we enjoyed every one. This was more fine dining than street food, yet the prices were reasonable.

As a vegan, I greatly appreciated the thoughtful selection of tasty vegan dishes. If I had one suggestion, it would be to offer a separate vegan menu and expand the vegan dessert options. Good vegan food is worth traveling for again and again! I will be spreading the word to all my vegan friends! This will be a great place for Birthday and other celebrations.

Everything about El Cenote was delightful, and I look forward to becoming a...

Last night, I went to this restaurant for a dinner with a girl; it was our first date. According to their website, they closed at 11pm on Monday. We ordered our food around 9:15 p.m. and, they made the girl’s order wrong at first. They fixed it, but the dish wasn’t very good was missing something , I think because they cook very fast without attention . I order beef steak as a main and was so cold cos I think they prep in advance just for start close the kitchen and be ready to serve it . The place had only two tables, so it wasn’t busy at all. By about 9:45 p.m., we still had food on our plates, and I asked for another drink, but the waiter told me they had to close and couldn’t serve me any more drinks. We felt rushed to finish our meal, and I couldn’t even have a drink to go with it. I mentioned that their website said they closed at 11pm ., but he said that since it was Monday and no one was around, they didn’t want to stay open that late, so we had to leave. This guy wasn’t even kind to offer a discount . Very very bad experience , I was asking for the manager but the guy said that the manager wasn’t there . Overall, I definitely don’t recommend this place, and the food wasn’t good at all.” I...

Showed up for 2-4-1 Taco Tuesday for a quick bite. Tried 4 types of tacos on the menu and was delighted by all of them. The Cochinta Pibil (slow cooked pork marinated in achiote, cooked in orange juice) was exceptional. It made me put down whatever I was reading on my phone (typical solo diner I know) and just marveled at the juicy, wondrously flavors in my mouth. I finished them off before remembering to take photos. The Pollo al carbon was my second favorite out of the four. British chicken is pretty bland in general (assuming that’s what they used) I applaud any chefs that can somehow manage to bring out the delicious flavors of British chicken without needing to rely on excessive spice marinate. The flame grilled char topped with crunchy pickled red cabbage added the magic touch to this taco dish. As for the cocktails, can’t go wrong with a classic margarita. Sensational. It was sweet but well balanced out with enough mouth puckering acidity from the fresh limes. Nothing is worst than a weak tasting, over-shaken margarita, and this one is not at all that. It hits the taste buds in all the right ways. Highly recommend all to end Tuesdays with belly full of tacos at El Cenote.

Great food in a great location! Everything was fantastic from the food, to the service to the atmosphere. Thomas our server was great! Very patient and attentive. Such great service that we gave him a cash tip! I did see he put it into a jar hopefully the full tip went to him at the end of the shift as it was well deserved. My only complaint was that I think they should double the tortillas on the tacos as they can break due to the amount of filling and we also found that some of the meats in the taco was cold. Besides that everything was perfect. We came for taco Tuesday, such great value for money and a very good selection of tacos to choose from.

El Cenote is a charming little restaurant tucked away in a quieter part of Camden, offering a welcome break from the usual hustle. The food is as vibrant as its surroundings, delivering authentic Mexican flavours with confidence. The ceviche stands out — simple, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The drinks menu is equally impressive; the hibiscus margarita was a personal favourite, expertly crafted, and the classic Cheladas lived up to their reputation. The service was attentive and friendly, rounding out a genuinely enjoyable experience.
