El Mero Taco — Restaurant in London

Unfortunately not great first experience at El Mero Taco.

8/10 Food was nice and tasty. Fresh ingredients used. Went for tacos x3, calamari etc. 3/10 Drinks disappointing. Would rather stick to water. 5/10 Service needs an improvement

We came for a drink and some food to this restaurant. Being local and reading so many positive reviews on google - I've decided to bring a friend to try this new Mexican place.

Menu given looked cleaned and very nice, offering large selection of cocktails from margarita, to more creative ones to choose from.

Got Mojito, Margarita and some other signature cocktails with rum and ginger. For £9 this was an absolute disappointment. Three of us did not feel any alcohol or close to it in our drink. They felt so watered down and cheap, THAT restaurant management seriously need to look into that. Unacceptable.

** Now, we understand that this is a family run restaurant and service can be slower then usual, however you as a customer, don't wish to be dealing with that and paying substantial amount of your money when you are coming out for a meal with your friends, and having owner with a baby on their hands taking your order and forgetting simple requests like (i.e. asking for water 3 times within 20min and they kept forgetting (especially when restaurant is not even full/busy).

IF YOU DO DECIDE to try this place, maybe come not around evening and maybe more at lunch time, so maybe you'll be more lucky and experience...

I ordered a pina colada and and a chicken burrito with some nachos. The pina colada was probably the best pina colada that I've ever had before, it honestly was amazing. And I have to say the person serving us was the only worker in the restaurant so he had a lot to do. It just would've been nice to be known that it was happy hour when we were eating there because we did have to ask after already ordering our drinks since I saw it on the sign. Additionally, when we were ordering more drinks he told us that the drinks that we ordered were not a part of the happy hour after we finished drinking it which I think was a bit disingenuous. My friend and I went here today for a late lunch and we were very happy with our meal. We were greeted by such lovely people and this sweet little boy came over and gave my friend and I our menus ☺️ I ordered the pork burrito bowl with mango habanero sauce, it was absolutely beautiful. I was so full by the end. The portion size is 100% worth the price you pay for it.
