Went there with my husband and another couple on 1st January 2019 at 7pm. It was not busy but there was a wedding party on another room. I saw only 2 waiters that evening. It took 30 minutes to get our drinks. Even though we ordered as soon as we arrived it took 45 minutes to get 2 pepper soups (not hot enough so had to return to heat them up).the same for our neighbouring table who return their soup too. Then 1 main arrived 20 minutes later then 1 jellof rice and 20 minutes later 1 starter (spring roll with ketchup sauce. We asked them.for a proper chili sauce) my main course arrive almost 2 hours after we ordered because they forgot about it. The fish was not fresh and was not freshly cooked in the oven but just warmed up in micowave (it was still cold inside) the waiters are inexperienced. The service is very slow, the music is very loud so we have to scream to be heard. We ask for a take away box (that never arrived) for the jellof. My fish was disgusting so I ended up leaving without eating it. I will never go back again. We finished our night in another african restaurant 50 metres away. Cannot remember the name but I think the owner was Ivorian (the service there was outstanding and the food was tasty and fresh; not precooked) I will never go back to Empire lounge Old kent road. It was the worst...

I visited this place with 6 other people on a Sunday afternoon, my overall experience is nothing to write home about. I would not visit this restaurant even if someone offered to pay! The music was so loud you have to shout for the person next to you to hear. There was an altercation in the restaurant, shouting and exchanging of blows between customer and service providers. To try out their service we decided to order small first and then order more if we liked it. Our order was as followed:
-Grilled Crocker fish with Fried yam and plantain- £18. Taste of food: 3/10 Waiting time: 30-35mins -Beef Suya( about 10small pieces of beef with onions and tomato)- £10 Taste: 8/10 waiting time: 10mins -A 450ml jug of Asda orange juice worth 80p- £7
The order was coming out one at a time, with an increasing waiting time. The chicken and chips from the kids menu took so long we decided to leave it and pay.
On entering the restaurant, we literally had to approach them at the desk after 10-15mins of waiting and no one to...
Read moreGreat place to eat and dance. From outside, it doesn't look much but once inside, it's quite spacious. Once we were in, the waiters were quick to approach and sort you a table which was nice. We didn't book in advance even though it was late evening. We ordered 2 orders of snail and fried yam and 1 order of white rice and ayamase. These took quite a while to arrive. I'm guessing they had to boil the snail first and maybe that takes a while but i really hate waiting long for my food. It wasn't the worst wait I've experienced though, but the food was great except for the fried yam. It was not kind dryer than normal. The DJ was really nice although he was not consistent at the times and I hate that with some DJs. A good DJ has to be able to read the crowd. You can't play lovely 6 lovely hits and we're all vibing and dancing and then you switch to some dodgy songs and you see people taking their seats. Lol. Parking in this area is a bit dodgy too but there are parking in places if you look. I have given this place a 4 star cause of the DJ and the wait...
