I recently had a highly disappointing experience with Escape Bar that has left me feeling deceived and overcharged. As a frequent diner at this establishment, I was confident in their prices and portion sizes. However, my first-time order for delivery shattered that trust completely.
Typically, I enjoy a portion of three honey wings for a reasonable price of £6.50 when dining in. However, when I placed my delivery order, they quoted a staggering £12.50 for just three wings. I immediately suspected an error, but to my surprise, Escape Bar claimed it would be two portions for this inflated price. Relieved, I agreed to the deal.
To my utmost dismay, when the order arrived, it became apparent that their idea of providing two portions was downright absurd. Their solution? They simply chopped the whole wings in half and had the audacity to pass it off as two portions. This blatant lack of transparency and attempt to profit from misleading offers is unacceptable.
What irritates me further is the false advertisement of enticing deals like "buy one get one free" or "2 portions." I naively fell for their marketing ploy, only to discover that it was nothing more than a tactic to overcharge customers, rather than offering genuine value for their hard-earned money. As a result, my confidence in Escape Bar has been shattered, and I can no longer trust their business practices.
If Escape Bar wishes to regain the trust of their customers, they need to address these deceptive practices and provide clarity and fairness in their pricing policies. As for myself, I have lost faith in their establishment and will be extremely hesitant to give them another chance in the future.
I sincerely hope that other customers are spared from the disappointment, frustration, and financial exploitation that I experienced. In the meantime, I would strongly advise seeking alternatives where transparency and customer satisfaction are given the priority they deserve.
Furthermore, I should note that there are photos available that depict the typical portion size of three wings for £6.50 at Escape Grill. These photos provide visual evidence of the previous serving size and can help illustrate the stark difference in portion sizes that I experienced with my recent...
Read moreAnother little Caribbean takeaway with an emphasis on Jamaican cuisine (my forté).
Pleasant surroundings, our group of twenty were looked after nicely by the staff.
They put on a buffet for our group, knowing in advance the size.
The food was nicely and authentically, seasoned - light on the 'scotchie' (scotch bonnet peppers) for me, that said however, the curry mutton really tasted nice, something I can't say very often. The ackee was acceptable as were the mackerel fillets, a little bland but ok. The jerk chicken was tasty and tasted authentic.
My only issues were: 1) finding 'tropical sun' goods on the table; stars were lost for this because it is, then, highly likely that, e.g. the ackee wasn't sourced from Jamaica (and there are outstanding Jamaican sources for our specialist foods) and 2) no bass in the music. the quality of the Spotify playlist was average - but we Jamaicans like our bass and it doesn't need to be loud (it's preferable that it isn't loud, infact), but it must must must have bass.
That aside our party had fun, the food was good and the music selection was...
Read moreA lovely addition to the Crystal Palace triangle! My friend and I visited 'Escape' yesterday on a whim and was pleasantly surprised.
The staff were very pleasant and attentive, they had a great range of vegan and vegetarian food choices and we really loved the ambience.
The little touches such as mini record placemats, the decor and the music gave this place a lovely authentic feel. The food was delicious! At first, being a certified foodie, I wondered if the portion size would be enough but I was stuffed! I ordered the cuban inspired 'one bowl' dish with a side of callaloo and a glass of wine. My friend ordered sea bass.
The staff wore gloves and the tables had hand sanitisers for reassurance. I'm already planning my next trip where I'll definitely be enjoying a cocktail or two!
It's worth mentioning that the restaurant is currently participating in the 'eat out to help out' scheme which, visiting on a Saturday we didn't benefit from this, but give it a try Monday - Wednesday of you're on the fence.
Well done guys! A restaurant well thought out with a great staff force. I'm...
