Spinach Crystal Palace — Restaurant in London

What a truly ghastly experience. My date and I were given a table by the window and then warmly greeted by our server. I ordered a coffee and was asked if I’d be eating to which I replied no. At this point the change in mood was palpable, the warmness vanished and the menu was snatched away from the table. My date then ordered an overpriced £7 smoothie and was also asked if she’d be eating. Sensing the mood change my date apologetically responded that we’d just eaten to a stonewalled response and the menu again being grabbed away from the table. We both felt cut in half by the notable passive aggressiveness of our server. I can only assume our server was the owner as no staff member would surely be motivated to act in such a callous way towards a customer. Absolute disgrace, will be avoiding at all costs & advising friends to do the same.

*In response to the reply from the owner, the only ‘we’ in the equation was us the customers, us vs our single passive aggressive server. And we both witnessed the same thing independently to each other. So when you say this doesn’t reflect how we remember your time with us, think about how it accurately reflects what we both experienced & don’t try to deflect it. I’d have been happy to have talked about it but I didn’t want my date to feel any more uncomfortable, and unfortunately there won’t be another...

Have enjoyed spinach often in the past but progressively felt it’s losing its charm on each visit. Coffees are still 10/10 and my beloved spinach fritters are awesome although prices are expensive and the teeny offering of halloumi now is pretty poor for the price!

We came in for a birthday brunch as a family (3 adults and 2 children) we ordered 3 bucks fizz’s and what we got was flat and in a half filled flute. I’ve been previous to spinach and have photos of full glasses of Buck’s Fizz. We mentioned the fizz is flat and the chap gave us another after saying it’s maybe because he did half and half (the correct Buck’s Fizz is 2 parts fizz 1 part orange) he gave us others still half a glass and still pretty flat (too much OJ) we didn’t mention again as he seemed bit put out.

We asked for bill only to be presented with a card machine instead with £134.32 on it. I said can we have the paper bill please? Of course service charge was added which was £14.92. We don’t mind paying service charge but we like to have bill first? Upon paying we seen children’s meals come out, we weren’t given this option. Our kids eat well so wasn’t a biggy but again option would have been nice.

I hired Spinach for my wife's birthday party and they did such a great job of making it a special evening. We started with a dinner party downstairs where we were serrved dishes from the feast menu, which were very good and came with huge sharing salads. They provided vegan and gluten free options too that were really enjoyed by those members of our party. We then moved upstairs for the main event and were really well looked after. The party went on until 1am as they offer a late license, which was great and something hard to find in the local area. They were really helpful with the cake too. I needed them to receive, refrigerate and then thaw it, which was all taken care of without fuss. I imagine some people just use the venue's integrated system + laptop but we hired in a sound system as we wanted make sure the sound was loud and high quality enough for people to dance. With it being a cafe there's no dj booth and the table they had is quite low so we had to improvise with the set up but these were minor issues. Would definitely recommend if you need a...
