Borough Kitchen Cook Shop — Local services in London

A friend and I attended the Advanced Knife Techniques class at Borough Kitchen Hampstead earlier this week and we both thought it was an absolutely first-class experience – fun, informative, inspiring, and not forgetting utterly delicious. Our tutor, Carla (ably assisted by Emma), had a very relaxed, friendly style of teaching that made learning the various techniques immensely enjoyable. Over the course of the evening, we learnt how to safely and effectively use different types of knife (and a mandolin) to prepare all the elements of a wonderful meal (roast poussin with a sweet potato gratin and herb and fennel salad) — then we all tucked into it together at the end, with a glass of excellent Chablis. I'll definitely be checking out some more of their courses in the future — they do a breadmaking one that looks really interesting. I think passionate amateur cooks who want to learn more about a specific aspect of cooking will get a real kick out of this place. I can't recommend it...

I’ve stopped by five or so times and I’m always blown away by the customer service and advice.

Once a member of staff wouldn’t physically let me buy another lodge cast iron pan until I’d followed her instructions to salvage the one I already own (great advice - it turned out good as new)

Today, a super duper helpful member of staff also warned against purchasing a cast iron blini pan until I’d checked that our induction hob would recognise such a small pan, he was apologetic but I was so impressed at the genuine customer service and knowledge - potentially forfeiting a sale so that I didn’t end up with something I want delighted with!

The range of wares is expensive but super high quality and the staff’s attitude makes me want to shop here...

After purchasing a set of Wusthof knife from their online store I have called their customer service to receive further details on the delivery day, and only upon this phone call have I been notified there has been an internal processing error and they would have to cancel my order as they actually had none in stock (although the website showing stock was available).I could have been waiting for days for my parcel to arrive if I did not enquire about the parcel delivery.. Customer service has been very slow at responding to my phone calls as well and they have not been clear initially with the status of my order which has been very frustrating. Being so close to Christmas, it is a huge disappointment that Borough Kitchen dealt with my order...
