My partner and I came to the cafe for the second time after enjoying our coffee here the other day. Last time we bought oat latte's, this time usual milk latte's. The coffee tasted bitter, sour even, the milk tasted gone off, it tasted really bad with a lasting after taste so I told the two people serving that the coffee was bitter and if I could please change them for oat milk latte's. The guy said I can exchange then tried to charge me £2.95 for a whole other coffee in exchange to which I responded that I had already paid £5,95 so it would only be oat milk I need to pay for. I don't know why he tried to charge us another coffee for a simple exchange if there was something wrong with the coffee.
The lady who made the original latte's made the oat milk latte's and gave it to me clearly offended that i took the coffee back with no smile, negativity and a cold stare. It was not personal to her skills of coffee making that i returned it, the milk tasted gone off so of course i wanted to switch.
I was not happy with either of this reluctant service to simply change my coffee, I know the taste of milk when it has gone bad. The oat latte's given also tasted like a shared shot between both coffees as we could not taste the coffee. It did not wake us up, taste like coffee or like the first time we came.
We went on to continue our work, drank our coffee, to look up and see the both of them were talking between themselves staring over at us. This felt like a we were being talked about in offence because we changed the coffee.
This type of immature behaviour is unnaceptable, it should not be taken personally if something is wrong with a coffee and needed changing, let alone to congregate and clearly be talking about us as customers. We originaly felt this is a comfortable environment to work, eat and drink, we are yet to try the food menu which we looked forward to trying. Although after this we don't wish to come back. Things will sometimes go wrong with coffee making and to simply exchange and continue would be the service that shoud be given, not this level...
Read moreWhilst looking for somewhere to eat with my family after my son's football class in London Fields I was delighted to find another Franze and Evans has just opened in Mare Street Studio's. The space is amazing, large enough for families and plenty of space to cater for prams and children. We also had a small dog with us which was no problem and space was very comfortable with large sofa's to lounge on too. From little ones to grandparents all our tastes were catered for with the same great signature food and cakes that you can find on Redchurch Street, Cremer St and in Bow. This is definitely a great place to check out and one to keep...
Read moreWe were really let down by our recent visit. Before heading over, we called to check if they are pet friendly (cause we have dog). The owner joked over the phone, saying as long as our pet wasn't an elephant, it was fine. But when we got there and ordered, he came over and rudely said big dogs weren't allowed, referring back to his elephant joke. We ended up not eating there. It's frustrating when places don't stick to what they say and treat...
