First let me say, this restaurant isn’t BYO anymore so we showed up with a clinking tote bag of wine which we had to take home again! We came early on a Tuesday and the place was quiet although it quickly filled up giving it a bit more atmosphere. The mural is pretty but there wasn’t am awful lot of atmosphere. We ordered the mixed sharing platter to start which had delicious summer rolls (which I can sometimes find bland but these were full of plump juicy prawns), crispy fried duck rolls (I didn’t think these were anything special, my partner loved them), crispy spicy, salty and sweet squid which was perfectly cooked and a really fresh yummy well dressed salad. Great starter but it wasn’t cheap! For mains we had the mushrooms in homemade oyster sauce and a duck curry. Both were absolutely full of flavour and couldn’t be faulted really well cooked and yummy. We didn’t order rice or noodles as we didn’t want lots of carbs and also they were quite expensive (over six pounds for plain noodles- imagine the profit margin!) This, coupled with the the slightly stand offish service, is the only thing that’s stopping me giving this...

Awful awful awful Our family and friends had been going to this restaurant for years and loved it in the past, but not anymore! Over the last year or so we have noticed a serious decline in service and quality of the food. Our experience this weekend was so bad we will not return ever again. Terrible service – very rude, unaccommodating, dismissive, and unclean. The food was so terrible we all felt ill afterwards – one noodle dish came out cold, when we complained the waiter actually felt the food with his hand while it was still on the table, took it away then brought the same plateful back about 1minute later – obviously just put it in the microwave for 30 seconds! Disgusting. Other dishes just tasted bad and looked unfresh and thrown together. One main dish we ordered didn’t come out at all. The same waiter reluctantly took this off the bill, we insisted on the service charge coming off also. I recommend staying away and trying elsewhere instead. Hopefully this will make the owners fix whatever problem has changed what was a great place into...

Maybe it's because it was late and they didn't have their heart in it, but the food was utterly boring. Not what I remember from previous visits.

We were asked to sit on the other side of the restaurant, on our own away from everyone else, because they were 'about to clean the other half'. Ordered two beers (Saigon, thought they might be of the standard of Chang or similar but totally bland) and two noodle dishes.

Despite being one of only a handful of tables still ordering, the mains came about 5 minutes apart, and one of them (the second one) was the wrong dish. Wasn't worth waiting for the correct one at that point.

The food was edible, but completely unremarkable. Noodles, beef boiled to within an inch of its life, and a handful of frozen vegetables, all wrapped up in a completely bland flavorless sauce.

I remember coming here before a couple of years ago and being impressed. Either things have gone rapidly downhill, or the standard of everything else has risen so much that by comparison this place seems...

The absolute best bone broth in London. I always get the Vegetable & Tofu with meat broth. The noodle re glossy and perfect, not as sticky and starchy as other places, lighter. Always the MOST veg compared to others. A sweet delicate nutritious broth. They were kind enough to give me a free dessert today because an I’m a regular. The sweetest family. Wonderful service and energy. Best Vietnamese in Hackney BY FAR ✨✨✨ THANK YOU I LOVE YOU 🫶🏼

Price - completely decent for Hackney and they take card unlike some others down mate street Location - easy to get to via bus, or a ten minute walk from Hackney central Atmosphere - quiet, chilled, private, warm Service - great, especially if you are keen for someone to bring food and leave you to chat! Food - fresh tasty ingredients, would recommend the seafood pho, which contains king prawns and squid
