Honestly the most disappointing and rudest service I’d received at a highly-rated cafe.
With high expectations we wanted to try out for the first time and so once we arrived, we got told by one of the staff members to wait for a few minutes to get a table as it was rather busy at the time, eventually, she escorted us there which wasn’t a problem up to that point. We ordered our food and drinks and came quite later than usual time but it was enough to endure our patience as the food was very nicely presented and taste wise, it was amazing and so me and my friends were having a good time catching up with our daily lives, however, it wasn’t too long when one of the staffs kept giving us the looks thinking that we stayed for a prolonged period of time (approx 40-50mins) so we felt drastically uncomfortable having to feel in discomfort in a cafe which we essentially enjoyed in the moment.
I am not going to finger-point and specify the staff member but once we were done with our food, it was as if she desperately wanted us out and so she cleared our plates and our drinking cups that weren’t even finished and threw a tissue inside the cup, at that point it infuriated me because ultimately my friend wasn’t done finishing up his cup of water. The staff half-heartedly informed that she apologises for her actions and just carried on what she was pursuing which was to get us out. My friend said it was all fine as he’s very introverted and doesn’t like to cause havoc and so do I but as a staff member, they should of given him a new cup as this is just basic manors to customers.
Later on, the staff came to us and asked us to leave in 10mins due to other reservations which is fine but they should’ve told us that before we were seated. Anyways, we were trying to finish up our conversation after that, but the staff came right after with the receipt and card machine. We strongly felt targeted at this point as they rushed with our payment and in-directly told us to leave. Very unprofessional and unpleased with previous behaviour of the staff so I asked to take off the service charge. That colleague seemed very angry and came back to us and took our payment very aggressively and even crunched the receipt on the table in front of us like she was trying to show her anger through her behavioural actions. I don’t think this is the right way to handle situations as a staff and she lacked understanding even though we told her the reasoning of our complaint.
To top off this havoc of a situation, she told us that we even ruined her Sunday but in reality, why is she trying to blame us back for her actions? In other words, she ruined our Sunday :)
Won’t be going there ever again, if you prefer service quality rather than food quality then I strongly suggest not going here as your day might be ruined as well...
Read moreI was hesitant to write this review as usually if I don't like a place, I prefer to not say anything but a few things here concerned me.
I Went here today after a very long time of wanting to try it. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed.
The food was incredibly expensive for a tiny amount. I got the tomato toast. One small piece of bread with some cream and a cut up tomato for £12.50!!! The hashy B's were also really not nice. My partner got the Cilber, which was ok but none of the flavours seemed to match. It was also £6 to add halloumi! I've lived in London for years but these prices really shocked me.
The coffee was on the pricier end of average for London, but was really nice.
What I disliked the most was that the vibe was off . On multiple occasions a couple of members of staff were looking clearly at people and appeared to be mocking them, seemed really mean. I honestly just wanted to leave as I was so uncomfortable. It was very unwelcoming. The other staff was really nice.
This place really has potential but the
Portions and prices need to match I worked in customer service before and I get you need a joke and games between you to get through the shift. However, making it obvious that you're talking and laughing at people just trying to have food/ coffee was just giving...
Read moreFriends of ours has been my all time favourite local brunch place since their opening in spring 2015. I’ve seen their amazing menu changing every season and even though it has changed from more breakfasty to more lunchy over the years, I still enjoy every dish I’ve tried. Menu might be changed but one thing is consistent: great coffee, nice crevice and delicious creative and seasonal dishes - my current favourite being the lobster with turmeric scrambled eggs on sourdough. You just have to go and try it, seriously. They always have a sweet dish which I always drool when looking at it online (currently being an amazing French toast with rhubarb and gin and tonic strawberries). The staff is really nice (with very little exceptions justified by increased popularity/busy times). It gets VERY busy over the weekends so do go early (or late), especially if it’s a sunny day! Highly recommended for one of the best...
