Egg came squashed and underdone. Sweet potato fries also underdone 2nd time food has come like this. Should have learned my lesson the 1st let down. Disappointed such a “highly” rated restaurant can not even cook and present a flipping fried egg, it ain’t that hard. Given the prices, would expect much better. Seems like pushing out orders on a Friday evening and making money is more important than showcases basicCulinary skills. 😠
Sunday 15th: Jesus, I can’t believe I am having to argue my experience buying from you establishment! How dare YOU! Haha, the evening I wrote my 1st review I was so angry I did not give my FULL experience and because you are questioning my knowledge because I am physically unable to come into your branch. So here it goes with RECEIPTS:…. After I have my tea on this Sunday morning. Rude.
UPDATED REVIEW BASED ON REPLY FROM RESTAURANT OWNER I have used your restaurant many times, I have the receipts, so your comment about me not knowing about “chef skills” because I have never been is redundant. Is it not the chef that prepares the food for delivery??? Further more, if you as an owner can admit, “Deliveroo orders from your establishment can come damaged, and that I should just get over it”, to me shows you should not be having items on your menu that you can’t ensure can arrive from point A to point B with no damage, quality checking your orders before sending them out changing or adapting food packaging - not blaming the very company that you are in partnership with 🤔. (I have worked for Deliveroo running dark kitchen restaurants/kitchens so 4/5 sometimes 6 different restaurants at once and quality checks on your product/order was above everything & the one of most important things for repeat custom) I gave your restaurant the benefit of the doubt the first time it happened, this time I was understandably fuming. When I review a place because something was bad, I ensure I know what the hell I am talking about and to make sure I have proof. You know another thing that is important in the restaurant takeaway biz?!?! Food temps. Can you explain how an order that is supposed to be fresh and hot (Chicken schnitzel with egg) can arrive after a 30min + journey in a riders top box surround by so called other fresh hot dishes have a part raw egg on a “hot” schnitzel chicken? It was that bad that it could not even finish cooking along the journey, if the food was all fully up to temperature the egg on top of the schnitzel surrounded by the other hot items surely would of “cooked” the egg on the journey, no? The chips were cold the sweet potato fries were undercooked, I.e inedible. I waited so long for this order because I know it was a Friday and you probably were busy etc etc. the disappointment I felt was strong.
Bearing all this in mind, why in the world would I enter your restaurant to try again? Your suggesting it felt false and a little bit disrespectful considering your earlier words. I have a right to share my experience of your establishment, if you have a problem with that I suggest you sack off offering delivery service so you don’t open yourself up for criticism especially if you can’t handle it. Nowadays there seems to be a sentiment that consumers especially in the U.K. should be grateful and accept anything, even if it is presented poorly. Businesses think whatever it is they are offering should be beyond reproach!!! How the heck did we come to this!? Sorry not me not today. Not any day. Especially when I am paying over...
Read moreVery average in my opinion, not too sure what the hype is about. Staff were very friendly and attentive which helps boost this review, however the food was nothing special and if anything, quite underwhelming, especially for the cost of which is not cheap - we spent £80 for 2 people including service charge.
For the food, I had the cordon bleu and my partner has the Neopolitana schnitzel. We also had the fried burrata and the Kimchi
The cordon bleu was a large portion, and the mash potatoes were fairly good. However the cordon bleu I thought was quite bland and tasteless. The melted cheese in the middle had no taste and neither did the ham inside. The sprinkle of sea salt on top was needed to give it some flavour. I feel that a stronger tasting cheese was needed as well as maybe a smoked or cured ham to enhance the dish. The gravy was okay.
My partner had the schnitzel as above. This too was quite bland. The cheese also didn’t have much taste to it, nor did the tomato sauce.
The fried burrata was not good, and I don’t believe it to be burrata at all, but instead a ball of fried Mozzarella - at least that is definitely what we had (there was no stracciatella as you would expect from Burrata and it was solid throughout) . It again did not taste of much and the only flavour from the overall side dish was the chutney underneath.
The kimchi was okay
Overall I feel this place has had an influx of popular influencers visit recently to help boost the restaurants profile. However I do not feel they’ve been genuine based on my experience. It’s not cheap, and the food is average (I had a water and my partner had a can of coke, so we didn’t even spend money on drinks per se).
The portion sizes of the mains are generous, and we did choose items from the specialty menu which are more expensive, however the cost is not justified based on just the portion size alone, even more so if it’s not enjoyable.
We’ve been to Austria multiple times and spend time in Bavaria each year where we’ve had amazing schnitzels for significantly less. Thank you to the staff for being attentive, polite and friendly, however I wouldn’t recommend this place based on the food alone.
Update since restaurant reply
I take your comments with due consideration and appreciate your response. Regarding our plates, I will admit I did finish mine as I was hungry after not eating all day. The food was not horrible, hence me not sending it back, it was just not as enjoyable as I would have hoped and in comparison to schnitzels I’ve had elsewhere. My partner’s main plate was pretty much full at the time of leaving as she did not enjoy it.
The burrata was maybe half eaten on the plate and the kimchi bowl maybe half full too. But again, this is only my opinion which will always be subjective. I will always give praise where praise is due, hence praise for the staff, but I cannot praise the food that we had. The presentation of the food, however,...
Read moreWent there with some friends. Two of us are vegetarian, and I can't have gluten at the moment. Was pleasantly surprised by the menu, offering both options.
When we got into the restaurant, it was a chaotic scene with tables and chairs being moved constantly, and barely any room to get in, sit down and relax.
When we sat down they sat someone next to us (perfectly nice chap, but a bit odd to do that) and made a whole fuss over my bag, and his bag.
Felt like we were being constantly micro-managed to the point where when my friend ordered a milkshake they said not to order it for before the meal, and they told the chap next to us to take sauces off his plate, like he was a child.
We eventually got served, and we explained the dietary things, ordered beers (including gluten free ones which was quite) and all seemed OK, we waited.
Time passed and no beer arrived, so we asked. They said they'd ran out.. thanks for letting us know.
Then in slightly bizarre fashion, they then proceeded to go next door and buy one, before serving a regular bottle in a freezing cold two pint glass.
Was all very surreal.
They then brought out starters, which were pretty decent.
Potato salad tasted good, and the other bits looked nice.
When the mains came, the portion sizes were absurd. My friends who had veel had a very thin crispy schnitzel almost falling off the plate. It looked pretty good.
Me and my friend who are vegetarian ordered the aubergine and mushroom schnitzels to share.
The aubergine schnitzel was completely tasteless.
They basically cut it in half and coated it in some gluten free breadcrumb replacement. It was like eating some rubber.
The mushroom version was similarly bland. Was just the lid of a massive mushroom covered in some kind of coating. They gave us three of each, and we left one of each, to take home. Very much over compensating quality for quantity for vegetarian stuff.
One of my friends took home half, the other ate most of it..
Starters, sides, mains and drinks came to 30 quid a head, which isn't absurd for London.
But the service was very strange, and the food quite disappointing, considering on both trip advisor and Google there are five star reviews. Feels a bit odd. There was also just one toilet there, right next to the kitchen and area food comes out of, so the queue for it is basically in the way.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is chaotic, and the service added to this.
It's a tiny confined space, with servers constantly pushing past you and clambering over you and other guests. It's quite intense. I wouldn't have a problem if the food came quickly and it was really good, because it would add to the experience in some ways. Like, we knew we weren't sitting down for a formal three-course meal.
It's quite a stressful place to have some food, regardless of the...
