I am not one to publish reviews but my experience here was incredible from start to finish that I just had to share. I dined here on a Friday night around 10:45pm, quite late for a London establishment and I initially expected to be told that the kitchen was closed or that they were offering takeaway service only but what I got was the opposite. We were greeted with the warmest service and every team member we interacted with was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about ensuring we had a perfect experience. Now on to the food; it was divine. While we ate the only words my friends and I could exchange were how impressed we were. We each had the Krispy Kreme burger with cajun fries, and the lemon pepper wings, mozarella sticks, and two portions of the halloumi fries to share. Everything was fresh and genuinely was the best food I've had in London in a long time. The halloumi fries were garnished with pomegranate seeds which I thought was an impressively innovative touch. The food is beyond your wildest dreams and deserves the highest compliments. Personally, the wings were a highlight and were fresh off the grill and perfectly seasoned and flavourful. You don't come across chicken wings of that calibre often in this city so I was very impressed. Of course the star of the show was the Krispy Kreme burger which was the reason we chose to dine at Meat Up and it delivered in every way! It was so much better than imagined and perfectly crafted beyond expectation. There are various additional toppings to choose from [I opted for the gherkins and caramelised onions] to personalise and elevate the burger but honestly it isn't required and can be eaten as served because it is truly delicious. I also had the peanut butter milkshake and it was divine! I am a sucker for a milkshake and this one was perfect and complimented the meal so well. The other drinks were great and nicely priced. Everything was priced well and felt like a bargain for the quality of food and service. I would have had no problem paying double what I did and I've paid much more for lesser experiences. The location itself is beautiful; the interior is gorgeous and there is a lovely outside dining area too. Every team member went above and beyond to accomodate us and treated us incredibly. I do not have a single complaint and the overall experience was 10/10. Meat Up is a must visit and I look forward to returning and trying the soon to be introduced matcha milkshake! This is an establishment that has a real care for the service they provide and they get every step right. They have all of the keys to thrive in a hospitality industry that is severely struggling at the moment and I strongly suggest if people are going to go anywhere, they go here. I wish them...
Read moreStumbled upon this place on a little jaunt around Hoxton and was pulled in by the small group of friends tucking into their burgers in silence - usually a great sign.
Went for the standard double cheese burger and it was really good. Satisfyingly juicy, cheese that had a delightful pull to it and wrapped in a bun that was just about sturdy enough to stand up to the drip of the meat. The patty you could tell was from good quality beef, although it could have done with more seasoning to my taste.
In a culture of severely overpriced burgers the value here is also noteworthy - being able to get a burger and rosemary salted fries for £11.50. There are many lesser places that charge more than that for a burger alone.
The fries themselves are ok - much in the honest burger style though as a lover of Rosemary I could have done with a slightly bigger hit of it - it was rather subtle. Overall I would have liked them to be crispier - they were a little too soft to my taste. A little reminiscent of chip shop chips texturally. The portion is generous though.
Customer service was bright and the boss man blessed me with some complimentary sauces that they make in-house. The pick of them for me was the garlic mayo which was absolutely packed with intense garlic flavour. Lovely stuff, though all the sauces were good.
Definitely recommend if you're in the area - in the currently overcrowded burger market these definitely stand out for their...
Read moreI feel it's time to finally put an end the 'best burger joint in London' debate. I've tried the current giants Bleeker and Black Bear which both serve very good Burgers and merit the praise and hype they receive. But it's at this point i feel compelled to present to you the new champion 'MEAT UP', which I discovered via Google and I have to say is arguably the best burger I've ever tasted. I had the single cheese burger (double and triples are available) with rosemary fries and quite frankly it was an absolute triumph. Beautifully seasoned meat, beautifully assembled with the freshest ingredients. I simply was not expecting such excellence in a mere burger and these guys have without question changed the London burger game. I also had the honey chicken wings and mozzarella cheese sticks which were also incredible confirming these guys focus on excellence throughout the menu. The peanut butter milkshake and amoretto mocktail were also fantastic. It's at this point i have to mention the service i received from my new forever friend, man like Shah. From the moment I phoned for a reservation to the moment I left his infectious charisma and personality made me feel like I was eating at families house. Thank you to all involved and I most certainly will be back (Arnie voice) to London's newly crowned Nos 1 burger joint. Stay...
