Gabby's used to be so good a long time ago.
I hadn't been to Gabby's in awhile so I was really excited to go back in and order some food. Overall I believe I spent about £45.
The lady who was serving us was very nice and patient with us which I really appreciated.
The Curry Goat gave me Food Poisioning as I have been dealing with it for the earliest part of the morning. This was the only thing I ate, and as my partner didn't experience it, I knew it was the Curry.
It must have been old and they were just re-heating it, but it was very disappointing that this happened.
The Patties were smaller than I remembered and we couldn't get any Coco bread to go alongside it, but the Patties themselves lacked flavour.
The Festivals were hard and Stale, and the Fried Chicken Coating tasted like Flour.
I got my mum a Dumpling with Ackee, and the dumpling was very chewy and there was only one piece of Salt Fish in it.
Overall, I believe I will now be avoiding Gabby's as this was a very bad experience and it ain't as good as...
Read moreVomit inducing... We ordered oxtail and rice twice via uber eats. The menu said it included salad which we never received. The plantain was furry inside not cooked properly and clearly stale. The rice was haaaaaaaaard, as in dried out from a heat lamp and then left for a day ...or two. The "oxtail" was mostly bone but the little meat and sauce that was there was extremely salty, and we could tell that it was added long after cooking (and probably after being defrosted). The mac and cheese had a bland taste, think super mild cheddar and water sauce instead of cheese sauce.
As we are trapped in lockdown we tried to eat the rice and bone sauce and quickly discovered that it was stale. We immediately stopped eating after the first spoonful, but alas the damage had been done.
Within the hour I began to projectile vomit. And so the the other poor soul that consumed this "food". Order at your own risk, but just bare this in mind, its flying out of every orifice and theres only one bathroom in...
Read moreLove it! I live nearby and I can't get enough of their Rum Cake, absolutely delicious and reasonably priced, and so are the patties, dumplings and curry goat. My family never tried Jamaican food (but we all are like Master Chefs at home and great cooks) and we really enjoyed during their visit. Clean place and has nice staff. Thanks!
P.S. I moved to a different area and I miss this place 😭It's a little gem in Lewisham and the owner is a nice and good-hearted person. My bf bought cake in 2 different places as we could not go to Lewisham and the cake was dull, dry and had no rum flavor or smell (miles away from Gabby's recipe). Getting the bus so I can come over when I can, worth...
