Gail's is my favourite bakery/coffe place, I usually go to the one on Hampstead High street and that's wonderful however from time to time I go to you Belsize Park one and it saddens me to say that the service there is far from good enough now! You almost feel as if you shouldn't be there and for some reason they close the seating area in the back around 6.30 even thought it's open till 7.30 now this didn't used to be like that in there but has changed recently! As I have no idea what you policy is on this matter I can't really judge it as such but seems a bit strange to me! Obviously not all you staff are the same but the person in charge must control what the staff do and to be slamming chairs around putting them upon the tables around you while your customers are trying to enjoy they're coffe can't be right! I will still be going to Gail's for my bread and afternoon coffe but more than likely I will go to your Hampstead High street one where your service is more friendly I give that one 4 stars at...
Read moreThe latest outpost of the Hampstead favourite, Gail's offers fresh coffees and delicious baked goods - in the words of my girlfriend, "They take pastries to another level." Despite appearances from the outside, this cafe has some nice seating - and a lovely green courtyard - at the back.

But this is no self-service affair - leading to staff bouncing around and -frankly- hassling you while you make up your mind. Given the somewhat cramped space, this leads to a mildly stressful experience.
Pastries are for sure better than the Hummingbird Bakery up the street - but the jury's out as to whether or not we'll be adopting this as our new...
Read moreI stop by here in the mornings whenever I venture into the office, and although there are lots of cafes in this area Gail's is my favourite. The coffee is delicious, as is the oat porridge. As far as I know Gail's is the only place here at the moment offering non-dairy porridge which I love. The service is quick in the mornings even if there is a bit of a queue when I arrive so I never have to worry about being late to the office if I stop by here. Some of the comments say the staff aren't friendly and I'm not really sure what they mean - I would say the staff aren't that talkative to the customers but that's because they're busy doing their jobs and even though I've never had much small talk with the staff they've always been polite and...
