I would have loved to review the food and service but unfortunately I wasn't allowed to stay as I couldn't order just one portion of food for myself and partner. To add context I had explained my partner had eaten already and this was just for me and we didn't want to order too much resulting in any wastage. This is the first time I've ever come across a minimum order for each person in the UK and this wasn't mentioned anywhere beforehand or on the menu. I could understand if it was packed but it was empty, only 3 tables including ours were used. I guess that's up to them for missing out on business, I won't be coming back.
Edit: replying to the message as you clearly don't know what was going on, I did show courtesy and I left politely after being told the policy having sat there for a while. And this review will be absolutely useful to others so they are aware of the one dish one person rule that you don't publicly display. Also I hardly think comparing yourself with a Michelin star is appropriate, at your level of restaurant I have ordered many single dishes to share especially as I mentioned my partner had eaten.
Last thing I'll say is that it's laughable to talk about respect when your first reply to being called out for a policy that isn't clear is saying it wouldn't be useful to other customers.
Edit 2: This will be my final edit, although firstly I will clarify that my companion hadn't been before, it was both our first time. My frustrations were that such an important policy should be clearer, it wouldn't be the first or last time I go somewhere to only eat myself with someone else as I have a different eating schedule to most. I can understand your position and I certainly can appreciate an apology. All I ask is that this is made clearer from the get go. Have a great...
Read moreLocation & Ambience: Just steps from the station, this spot enjoys a lively setting. The décor is charming, with rich nods to Korean culture and storytelling.
Food: The experience was mixed. The JeYuk-Bokkeum (Stir-fried pork) was good and I recommend it. Our soups arrived cold — perhaps intentional or not but it didn’t work for me. The pork bone soup had barely any meat, and what was there was tricky to eat, making the price hard to justify. Portions of banchan felt small for two people, especially when solo diners got the same amount. On the bright side, the food was well-presented on a tray and the Makgeolli was excellent — smooth, fresh, and memorable.
Food portion: We ordered 2 extra rice which was £3 as the banchan and rice included in the £12 meal was not enough.
Overall: A beautifully decorated restaurant with cultural flair, but the food needs to be hot and if it's intentional the customer should be notified when they order. Banchan, JeYuk-Bokkeum and MMakgeolli was really nice.
Reply: I agree that the food was reasonably priced, and as I mentioned, the restaurant did get many things right overall. That said, I personally found the Ppyeodagwihaejang-guk (Pork back soup) served cold, and the JeYuk-Bokkeum (Stir-Fried Pork) was also not that hot, though the flavour was still enjoyable. The makgeolli was excellent—refreshingly cold in a good way—and together with the room-temperature banchan (which was good), it made the overall experience feel a bit on the colder side. As I’m not Korean, I can’t say for certain if the soup is traditionally meant to be served cold, this way, but for my taste it...

Avoid! £49 for a bowl full of bones. 2 spring onions, a half raw potato and a leaf of kale DO NOT count as vegetables. You can count the glass noodles on 2 hands. Barely any meat on the bones. No wonder it’s not busy. Waiters trying their best to ignore the clientele and toilet paper for napkins.
I asked for napkins and the waiter pointed at the dispenser on the wall, they DID NOT offered any alternatives.
I was quite offended, actually! Even my friends left most of their dish as it consisted of cold pig trotter fat, the whole experience was quite disturbing given that my friends love offals!!
I’ve had Korean food for years and I went to South Korea in 2012. Whenever I was presented with unusual food there was always an explanation and recommendations for how to best enjoy it. Your staff didn’t ask us if it was our first time there. Your staff didn’t explain the menu, Your staff plonked a bowl of cold bone stew on a camping cooker in the middle of the table and left us to our own devices. Your menu says this dish serves 3 and 2 of us were left quite hungry and ate some of the pig trotter and finished our friend’s rice.
