My wife and I were in London for the last leg of our 25th Wedding Anniversary celebratory trip, which was part of a larger trip to Europe. During our entire two-week trip, I had a rule that we never ate at the same restaurant/café twice. My rule held fast until the end of our six-day/five-night London stay when we discovered The Giggling Sausage!
For our first breakfast at The Giggling Sausage, my wife and I had omelets, chips, and cappuccinos, and these weren’t just any cappuccinos, they came with smiley faces, which were as welcoming as our server! Even when our accents gave us away as Americans, we were treated like locals, which was completely endearing to us, and unlike anything we had experienced while dining in France or Belgium, previously.
The next morning, which was, sadly, our last day in London, we had a scheduled tour of The Tower Bridge, which meant we were on a tight schedule. After checking out of our hotel, we had only a limited amount of time to grab breakfast and then make our way to The Tower Bridge. Knowing how good the breakfast had been the morning before at The Giggling Sausage, and mindful of the countdown to our 10:30am tour, we made our way over to Great Suffolk Street.
When we walked through the door of The Giggling Sausage, our server from the previous morning, Nurkan (if I have misspelled her name, please forgive me), remembered us and greeted us with, “Welcome Back!” That’s how you know you are in the right place!
For Round Two at The Giggling Sausage, I was excited to try Bubble & Squeak, which combines two of my favorites - cabbage & potatoes. Being from the other side of the Atlantic, this dish was completely new to me, but I enjoyed it so much that I am going to make it at home in the U.S.
After we finished our breakfasts, we decided we had time for my wife to order a second cup of coffee. When my wife raised her cup of Americano coffee from the saucer, Nurkan had created a smiley face in the saucer under the cup, which delighted my wife and completely made her day! Immediately, any sadness she had felt about leaving London was erased by a cup of pure joy!
When we were paying for our breakfast at the counter, Nurkan asked how long we were going to be in London. We responded, sadly, that this was our last day in a city we had enjoyed so much. A significant part of our overwhelming positive experience in London were our two breakfasts at The Giggling Sausage, which serves up equal portions of good food and good people.
If we are ever so blessed to make it back to London for a second time, The Giggling Sausage is on our must-visit list! Good food may warm one’s belly, but good people (and smiley faces)...
Read moreLiving up to its playful name, the Giggling Sausage Cafe in London offers a breakfast that's sure to put a smile on your face. I popped in a few weeks ago for a morning meal and was delighted.
While the menu boasts an array of tempting options, I opted for the omelette with chips and salad. The omelette itself was just what I needed to start my day off, cooked nicely and each bite satisfying, and the accompanying chips were crispy and golden, providing a satisfying contrast in texture. The salad, with its vibrant mix of greens and fresh vegetables, added a delightful touch of lightness to the dish.
The portion size was perfect, leaving me feeling comfortably full without being weighed down. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every mouthful, and the overall presentation was simple yet appealing.
Beyond the food, the cafe itself offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The friendly staff added to the positive experience, making me feel right at home.

Read moreI originally planned to visit a highly-rated café across the road from this one. However, upon arriving, we found the seating there to be very cramped, making it difficult to have a private conversation without overhearing others. Additionally, we waited several minutes at the 'wait to be seated' area without any staff acknowledging us or giving any indication they would assist us soon.
Disappointed, we decided to try the Giggling Sausage Café across the road. As soon as we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by two women behind the counter, even though one was busy preparing an order. We were seated immediately and handed menus.
My partner ordered a full breakfast, while I chose the avocado toast with poached eggs. The lady serving us checked in to ensure everything was to our liking and if we needed anything else. She was very kind, and the breakfast was delicious!
A clear example that sometimes simplicity is better than fanciness.
