Our third visit to GS Wimbledon in Oct 2021 was for a lunch. We enjoyed the Phuket Mussels, Pork Dumplings, Salt & Pepper Squid, Prawns with Ginger, Satay Beef, Som Tam Papaya Salad, Pad Thai Noodles, Pork Red Curry with Roti, Seafood Curry and Gra Pao. Delicious 😋. Our second visit to the Giggling Squid in Wimbledon was in May 2021, our first being in Oct 2020. Once again we were impressed and are planning our future visit. This time we concentrated on the starters trying the Golden Money Bags, Phuket Mussels, Pork Dumplings, Salt & Pepper Squid, Samui Zing Prawns, Grilled Squid and Som Tam Papaya Salad; with extra helpings of the prawns and squid. We did try a few of the mains - Thai Red Prawn Curry, Pad Cha and Jasmine Rice. We also tried some cocktails which were very good. Highly recommended. This is a great Thai restaurant and we will definitely visit again in the not too distant future. The service was very good, and the food and drink was excellent. We were in a group and shared a variety of starters including Golden Money Bags, Phuket Mussels, Pork Dumplings, Salt & Pepper Squid, Samui Zing Prawns, Grilled Squid and Som Tam Papaya Salad. All the dishes were great and we especially liked the prawns and squid. For mains we had Thai Red Prawn Curry, Soft Shell Pranee Prawns, King Prawn Pad Thai, Pad Cha and Jasmine Rice. Once again all excellent especially the Thai Red Curry. The desserts looked good but we were too full to try them 😀. I would highly recommend a visit to the Giggling Squid Wimbledon.

I feel compelled to write this review after bumping into locals in the village who shared they got sick from eating at Giggling Squid and when they complained at the time, they were not heard and staff tried to hurry them up to leave the restaurant. Our love for Thai food meant we used to frequent Giggling Squid from the time they opened and stopped when Covid arrived. Went there for the first time since Covid and all three of us got food poisoning. We were very hungry and excited to see each other and that took our mind off the food. But soon after a few tough bites I looked down at my plate to see the old produce was smothered in marinade and gooey sauce which masked the taste and bacteria lurking. In times when our health is at high risk, it is a disgrace that this restaurant are serving old food that is increasing the risk to getting sick. As a separate matter, the portions are tiny and they mask that by putting it in a tiny bowl which is smaller than a glass they serve for drinks. None of us will ever return.

Had a lovely celebration dinner with some friends, there were 6 of us. The restaurant seems quite compact, our table was a round table at the back which to be honest was very small for us. Bit cramped literally with your backs to the wall & if you tried to sit further backwards you were pretty much in the way of the staff serving routes. Otherwise the decor and atmosphere is lovely. Food was good too. A few notes on the food, the sharing platter was great, especially the pork skewers. The Som Tam needed some more sauce as the papaya turned out a bit bland. The portions to be honest seemed on the small size for the starters also. The duck spring rolls we asked how many came in a portion and they said 6, however it came out with 4 pieces which as a bit disappointing, would have ordered more if we knew. The mains were fantastic, nothing bad to say at all! - the cocktail menu, on point. 10/10. Staff very friendly , would come again but probably with a smaller group to ensure a fully comfortable meal.

This was, without question, the worst experience I have ever had with a restaurant, EVER, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

My food arrived with a few black hairs, not my own as mine is a different color, those were short as shown in the pic. I called the restaurant expecting, at the very least, an apology and a refund. Instead, I was told to take it up with Deliveroo. Fine. I contacted Deliveroo, only to be told the refund had to come from the restaurant.

So I rang the restaurant again. This time they claimed they'd already “contacted Deliveroo.” A blatant lie. I called Deliveroo who confirmed, in my case file, that no one from the restaurant had reached out at all.

I called back, again. Now they changed their story , said they would process the refund and “accept it.” I checked with Deliveroo once more, only to be told the restaurant had actually RECJETED the refund. Let that sink in: they lied, twice, then pretended to be helpful, only to go behind my back and block the refund.

It gets worse. The Deliveroo agent informed me that when they tried to speak with the restaurant, the restaurant wasn't being helpful because they were claiming “they couldn’t hear” and ran away from the phone. Pathetic. Embarrassing. Cowardly.

I wasted over an hour chasing this nonsense for a £26 refund, and in the end I told them to keep their unhygenic food and the money I wasted on them. I wouldn’t eat from here again if it were free. The hygiene is appalling. The manager is the most dishonest I have dealt with in my life. The customer service is non-existent. Even Deliveroo told me I should write a review to warn others, because they were so shocked by how badly this was handled. By the way, this is on an official file with deliveroo. So all these claims are backed up.

If you value your time, your health, or your basic dignity — do not order from this...

Finally got around to writing a review of my experiences at the Giggling Squid Wimbledon Village. We have eaten at least 6 or 8 times at this restaurant and in general have had an enjoyable experience and have always had the lamb shank as a main which I believe is their signature dish. However the last visit a couple of months ago was quite dissapointing. Table for 4 on a Saturday night is always going to be challenging for a restaurant to be on top of their game and our experience that day was to be expected. Food quality overall was as good as ever but service was very poor and waiting staff not really switched on or confident in what they were doing eg knowledge of product. Unbelievably the lamb shank was not available which in my opinion is not very good when I was looking forward to eating it again. This obviously set a bad tone for the rest of the evening. The cost of a meal at the giggling squid is not cheap and you are not only paying for good quality food and beverage but also location. You also expect to receive a high standard of hospitality and knowledge from the staff serving you which unfortunately on this ocassion was well under par. Three main courses were served and I had to wait at leat 15 minutes for mine to arrive which was poor service. As a consequence the Giggling Squid Restaurant won't be due a revisit from us...
