A decent dining experience at Gilvic that could have been much better in my opinion…Starting with the positives, the space is lovely and you can clearly tell that the chef put a whole lot of heart in what he does. The service was also very attentive and my dietary requirement (lactose intolerance) was well acknowledged and catered for. Now, regarding the negatives, even if dishes were of pretty good standards, prices are absolutely extortionate for what you get on the plate. £7 for 5 small boiled potatoes as a side dish (without any seasoning nor even a bit of olive oil) is purely unacceptable in Haggerston and portions overall are very small. Also, discovering that half of the menu wasn’t actually available when we arrived because we booked a special offer (50% discount from The Fork) was a huge let down as it constituted the majority of the best dishes the chef had to offer! A real shame as again this restaurant seems to have a lot of potential but simply lacks structure and professionalism sadly…We...

We had a fabulous lockdown Thanksgiving dinner thanks to Gilvic, it could not have been better! Everything is homemade, the quantity are very generous. Excellent quality food and cocktail super tasty (I wish I asked for more!) Every detail was thoughtful: flowers, cinnamon stick, several sauces for the main course, personalised cards, fortune teller, nice note to help us to prepare the dinner!! From starter to dessert it was a flawless dinner. We were so sad to not be able to go back home to the US this year, this dinner was a real success, best experience we could have for Thanksgiving in London. We look forward to coming when lockdown is done! Thank you!

PS: Pecan pie was so delicious that we had eaten it all before...
