NOT A BOUTIQUE HOTEL - spend the bit of money you think you're saving and stay somewhere that is a real hotel with a reception. Pretty much a private hostel room.
Check in: Super weird. No explanation there was no reception in any of our booking info. We got there 50 minutes early, had to pay for roaming fees in order to get in touch as there was no one there. Someone came at the check in time to let us in, took us into an unlabelled building that had a code on the door, through another door and into our room. The check in procedure was a guy just showing us his whatsapp with all the door codes on for us to "take a photo of". We didn't feel super secure with it just being in a whatsapp thread and having valuables in the room, rather than a key of some kind - and the room being so bad to be in, we wanted to be out until we slept, meaning we weren't there ourselves for large swathes of the day and night.
Room: The bed was pretty meh, basic linen and one pillow each. The room was TINY with one small window. Pretty much a divided apartment building into weird shaped and sized rooms. There was a fire escape light that was on the whole night making the room look like the grinches lair. We asked them what the light was through whatsapp and after 5 hours and having to as again someone said they'd be by to fix the issue. They were apologetic and curteous, but simply wrapped the light in aluminium foil to cover most of it... The bathroom was super basic. The shower door didn't close properly and there was some old shower gel left there - complimentary or not. Not classy or "boutique" at all. Decor is awful and did nothing to the terrible room with two ceiling lights that were too bright. No table or side lighting.
There was a desk (right next to the bed so you couldn't open the chair) a small fridge and some basic shelves. Nowhere to put a suitcase or hang some clothes.
Not sure how the other rooms are getting better reviews. We could have spent and extra 30 pounds more a night and stayed somewhere much better. Always read the 1 star...

Unfortunately, my recent stay at Shuteye Hotel was deeply unsatisfactory, and I cannot recommend it to others. The primary issue was the overall quality and service. Despite the high cost, the hotel was shockingly subpar, resembling more of a private room hostel than a professional establishment.
The room's condition was alarming. The hotel's cleanliness was severely lacking, with dirty surroundings that were immediately noticeable. The bathroom situation exacerbated the problem, with a blocked shower that overflowed with water, creating an uncomfortable and unhygienic environment. Moreover, the bathroom itself was not well-maintained, adding to the overall sense of neglect.
Security and accessibility were major concerns during my stay. After returning from a work party, I discovered that the lock on my room door was non-functional. With no staff on site, it took an hour of waiting on the stairs before assistance arrived. Even then, it required an additional 40 minutes for a second staff member to address the issue. I slept at the top of the stairs for over an hour whilst it was being fixed - see photo. This incident was so distressing that I didn't trust the door to function properly on the second night, leading me to stay at a different hotel nearby.
In conclusion, my experience at Shuteye Hotel was highly disappointing. The lack of cleanliness, malfunctioning facilities, and poor response to security issues are unacceptable, especially considering the high price. I strongly advise against staying...
Read moreOn the plus side the accomodation is central (Shoreditch area) & a double room was substantially cheaper than other central hotels. Approx 160 GBP on 1 July. To get a room room at this price you'd need to go to outskirts Bedding and tiled floors were clean. Prospective customers should be aware this is not a hotel. Rooms are in the 3rd floor attic above a restaurant. If you have accessibilty needs, there are 6 flights of stairs to the rooms. There is no reception. You go into the restaurant & are escorted to a covered alley accessed via digital lock. The room itself is accessed using an electronic touch screen digital lock, bit fiddly. There is no key. Staff were friendly & welcoming as far as it goes. They will ask you to photograph the codes on your smart phone. There will be no one there to assist after the restaurant closes. We did wonder if any punters might start arriving in the small hours (thin stud walls only). But it was quiet in the street & in accomodation despite being a Saturday night. The shower room had no curtain & with light on your top half will be visible to windows opposite, although they are a distance away. The shower tray was completely smooth with no mat & very slippery. I was crashing there with my son after a gig so these were minor to us, but might concern some customers. My biggest gripe was the tap on the bathroom sink of an unusual glass slotted design. Visibly very dirty on the...
