We discovered Hackney Bridge by chance while going for a walk in the sun along the canal. We were actually walking towards Here East when we saw this place. What a nice surprise! Definitely my type of place: a lovely bar in the middle, with several street food places around it. Sitting space downstairs and outside with great views of the canal and the green spaces around. Additional sitting on the upper floor where you can also enjoy a game on their big screen. I went in February 2022, on a lucky sunny day but I'm looking forward to going in the summer. Hopefully it won't be ridiculously busy like most places around Hackney Wick which really annoys me. The good thing about Hackney Bridge is that, even if it's full of hipsters on a nice day, I bet you can just grab your drink and a bite to eat and enjoy it sitting on the grass looking at the canal boats...

A brilliant venue for a weekend meal with friends!

Hackney bridge is a market style food venue, hosting a number of vendors offering varied quisines.

There are plenty of food to choose from, Indian Street food, to pizza, to burgers and more. I opted for a Mutton Curry with Jasmine rice and vegan Roti. The food was spicy and flavourful, and the rice was cooked very well. Fantastic consistency for such a large service.

There is a decent bar which can become slow at peak times. They show live sport, so a good shout for watching football. Theres a large green and further bar on the river bank which makes for a great meeting spot.

Did feel a bit cramped for the amount of people being served, and could do with better signage.

Overall, a very good pick for a...

Where’s this magical 10% ‘tip’ at the bar going to? So you’re gonna do us for nearly £8 a pint and not pay your staff? The 10% doesn’t go towards service, that bit I know as the young emo guy in the outside bar served us 4 times and didn’t say one word in TOTAL or make eye contact once, but you want us to drop £1.50 each trip as a ‘tip’? All while queuing at a bar and getting a flat beer in a thin plastic cup? Behave yourself. Your outside bar will be so underwhelming all summer if you just treat us like cash machines for hipster servers.

Just pay people as this tipping thing is just nuts when you get nothing but misery. So many good places in Hackney Wick, but you’re just saved by the good food. In fact it was so poor we went at half time to go...

There seems to be a good mix of different cuisines but menu of each stall doesn’t have many choices. Most have only a few things to choose. Prices are not extravagant but the portion is tiny. We tried the Bao - £8 for two tiny buns. Smaller than any starter portion in most restaurants. The Vietnamese noodles is ok, not impressive, I think £12 or £13? Again it’s not a big bowl at all. The seafood “platter” (sorry I forgot the name - got tempura, white baits, squid, prawns etc) is so small for its price - maybe two small pieces for each item.

Absolutely amazing place, great vibe to sit by the canal side or sit indoors. For quiet and chill time, come on a sunny Sunday. For happening, full vibe, come on Saturday or probably any other evening. Lots and lots of outdoor and indoor seating. Food includes steak, mexican, jerk wraps, indonesian, pizza, drinks on tap and many other options. We tried the jerk chicken wrap and the pork dumplings, both great. They play live tennis matches too, watch for free!
