🚇Tooting Broadway 🍺 £6.20 Staropramen
The Graveney & Meadow is located on busy Mitcham Road in Tooting, Southwest London. The nearest Tube is Tooting Broadway.
This is a late Victorian pub, originally known as the Horse & Groom. A couple of doors down from the pub is the Grade I listed Granada Tooting. It was originally built as one of the great luxurious Art Deco cinemas of the 1930s, it is still considered by many to be the most spectacular cinema in Britain. It’s now used as a bingo hall and recently appeared in the Netflix spy thriller series Black Doves.
This a large two room pub that has an eclectic and contemporary feel. The main bar is located at the front and has an island servery towards the back. Just off the main bar is a dining area with a large atrium above. At the rear of the pub is a sprawling beer garden with lots of wooden benches. The decor here is mix of many styles, colours and furniture, there is a bit of something for everyone.
The beer selection offers a line up of familiar keg favourites. I decided on a Staropramen, my pint hit the spot, price point was average. There is an open kitchen in the main bar serving up Burgers, sharers and a nice variety of mains, roasts are available on a Sunday.
I arrived just before 4pm on a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon in April. The pub was fairly quiet inside, the majority of people were in the beer garden soaking up the Spring sunshine. I decided to plot up in the main bar and watch the Grand National with a few hopeful locals. The service was excellent, the chap on duty was easygoing and friendly.
The Graveney & Meadow is a hybrid type venue that blurs the lines between cafe, pub and restaurant. It’s a welcoming social space that accommodates a wide spectrum of clientele. I enjoyed my visit here, I liked how local it felt and the laidback atmosphere. This place will not appease the traditional pub goer, but I suppose it’s not built that way. The @graveneymeadow is worth a look if you’re ever down Tooting way.

Read moreREALLY not impressed with this place this evening 😡. I’ve been here a couple of times and not experienced such crass behaviour from the staff. I stood at the bar for roughly TWENTY MINUTES with my bank card in my hand on the bar having 3 of the 4 bar staff make eye contact with me; not ask if I was being served and immediately go to people who had BLATANTLY just arrived at the bar and ask them what they wanted to drink. I saw the DJ arrive AFTER I got to the bar and he’d set up and was about to start playing before my order was taken. If it was busy - I’d get it - but it REALLY wasn’t. As a lone black woman at a bar ordering drinks for myself and a friend I have NEVER been made to feel as completely and utterly ignored by bar staff as I was this evening. After a busy day at a very large healthcare establishment nearby, this is not what I expect to have to deal with from a bar that serves quite a few of the staff that work in this particular healthcare establishment. I won’t be visiting this place again after work and will be advising my colleagues to...

We came here on a Saturday afternoon for some brunch. Staff were great, friendly and quick to get you seated. The brunch menu runs till 4pm and gets you the usual brunchy meals along with some interesting twists (Korean bbq chicken on waffles) The intiror was very interesting a bit like stepping into your grandma's house but a touch quirky! They have cinema seats at tables, small ironing boards on the walls, old lamps and cabinets full of trinkets.
The meal itself was great, tasted amazing and came not too long after we ordered! One thing that I thought was that it was possibly a little too small for the price, could have some extra trimmings however I did notice they use local eggs and meat so it could be a little bit more expensive for...
