some of the food is excellent, service not so much. we came when there was only one other group in & waited over 5 minutes to be seated. the staff were talking and goofing around even though they saw us waiting. they wouldn’t seat us at a table for 4 because there was only 2 of us despite the restaurant being empty. the servers seemed both standoffish and uncaring. they got our order wrong & it was difficult to tell anyone because of the lack of service. they started blowing all the candles out & repeatedly telling us they’re going to close well before closing time & just made us not want to be there. this may be because of our younger age, but regardless should not be happening to any of the guests staying there. despite the horrible service, the food was amazing. the fish and chips were a good portion and very tasty, probably the best i’ve had in london. the side salad was extremely small, and not worth £4. the pasta was very small considering the price. good flavor but nothing special. tempura prawns weren’t really tempura, but a thick tasteless batter. overall, some of the food is good, most of it’s overpriced, & poor service.

I had the great privilege of dining here on Wednesday and met Matt Fletcher who gave me a guided tour of the main hotel and his kitchen. I was absolutely blown away by his hospitality, the food and the overall service in the pub. He is very passionate about the menu and ensuring the best, fresh cooked from scratch food is put on the plate for his customers and he spends the time in the restaurant talking with the customers about what he is doing. The kitchen is well organised and spotless (I'm quite fussy) the stock is brought in fresh each day..... so once it's gone, it's gone and everything is cooked to perfection 👌 100% recommend skipping past the main restaurant and visiting this gastro pub on the side, you won't be disappointed 😉 Hats off to Matt and his hardworking team 👏

Absolutely first class and extremely friendly service from the team here on a Sunday afternoon. The roast is superb, the yorkies have to be seen to be believed and that gravy is world class. We were made to feel very welcome from start to finish, they allowed us to sit in comfort watching sport of the TV whilst chilling with a lovely bottle of red wine. Great value for money. Thanks to the whole team, they were a credit to a fantastic hotel.

Visited this grand establishment on a Saturday afternoon. Ignoring the very rude waiter that first tended our table of seven for a special birthday celebration, I will base my review on the impeccable service provided thereafter by the charming and delightful MICHEAL.

So initially I wanted to leave but as we were there for a very special occasion I stayed... Micheal then took our order and was so helpful with suggestions. When we received our meal it was spot on, freshly cooked, beautifully presented and served hot.

One member of our party was not happy with her meal. Micheal dealt with her issues perfectly with no fuss. I recommend this pub, it's very grand and the varied menu makes it difficult to choose... More vegetarian options would be helpful though.

Thank you for making our dining experience at the Great Central a really MEMORABLE one Micheal!! Your service was top...
