The Mirror Bar — Restaurant in London

I visited the Mirror bar November 2023 and sent a complaint directly to the hotel with no response. Based on my experience of the service I would not recommend anyone visit nor will I visit again myself.

I went for an evening drink with a friend. I ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail. After drinking it, I felt dizzy and realised it must have in fact been alcoholic. I raised this with a waitress who twice told me that it was my fault since I had ordered the alcoholic drink which had a similar name to the non-alcoholic version. I explained that I had even pointed at the drink in the menu to make sure the right one was ordered. The waiter from whom I had ordered then apologised and said I would not be charged for the drink.

A second waiter then gave us an incorrect bill, charging me for the non-alcoholic cocktail and saying that I had ordered the wrong one. I then had to explain a third time that it was a member of staff that had taken the wrong order, and not my error. When he brought the correct bill, he said ‘’at least it was only a lifestyle choice, it’s not like you’re pregnant’’. My friend and I considered this comment deeply inappropriate, and the fact I was eventually not charged for any drink is absolutely no excuse for this behaviour. I do not expect to have to justify my reasons for not drinking, nor be told that those reasons are any lesser than another’s.

I would expect a major change in staff attitude and behaviour towards their customers before considering returning...

Five stars for the bar staff, they were excellent, knowledgeable and friendly. Also made superb drinks. Our experience however was tainted by a particular manager. She would not allow us to sit in our preferred seats as they were for 4 people and not 2 despite it not being busy and us offering to move if it did become busy, but fair anough so we stood at the bar and enjoyed our drinks. Not 5 minutes later she offers the same seats we wanted to a couple right in front of us. Also strangely and unnecessarily rude tone. Zero stars for her. I have grown up in the hotel industry and never experienced that level of petty passive aggressive rudeness.

Terrible service from this bar. I have been to this hotel a few times for corporate events & galas. We had come in here after dinner and the bar staff made us feel like we weren’t welcomed. There was two of us sitted, he told us to move without any apologies because he probably thought we didn’t look rich enough. We had to walk out in search of a better place to spend our evening....
