This is my local go-to Chinese takeaway. I'm generally quite happy with the quality of food. However, I have only given three stars for service due to discrepancies with a couple of my orders. On the first occasion I had ordered chicken chow mein but when I arrived home I found that I'd been given chicken fried rice. I then started checking the food I received before leaving the shop. After a while I became complacent. Then the other day I ordered a vegetable curry and when I arrived home I discovered I'd been given a mixed curry containing prawns, chicken and pork. I should have realised because the bill seemed a little expensive but I just put it down to rising costs. I still ate the meals but it could be an issue for someone who might be vegetarian or doesn't eat certain things for religious reasons. I only hope that no mistakes are made which might relate to any allergies. I don't know if it's a communication problem or just a careless mistake. I still go to Happy Family but I make sure to check my order before leaving.
Whatever happened to the old guy who used to take the orders? He never made a mistake with any...
Read moreThis has to be the worst take away I have ever had. Our usual weekly take away was closed. So we found this one and order exactly what we would have from usual take away. It was more than £10 more expensive. We thought well O.K. We are hungry. It was a Tuesday. Firstly Crabmeat & Sweetcorn Soup consisted of the usual liquid and a CRABSTICK , cut in Two. and very little sweetcorn , if any. There is NO CRAB IN CRABSTICKS, it is pummelled FISH.This is just a rip off. Next up, Salt & pepper King Prawns, well they were as hard as rock and appeared to have been precooked , battered and fried again, or indeed microwaved. I could go on but its pointless, whoever is cooking there on a Tuesday needs to choose a very different career path. The Prices this place is asking our was more expensive than other local take aways and the food is very very poor. Go...
Read moreWhere do i start. We stumbled across to this hidden gem in kennington. At first we thought it was just a take away service due to the size of the shop but they offered dining in. So we dine in instead of getting a take out. We ordered a few starters. We got summers rolls. Vietnamese spring rolls. Salt & pepper squid. Ribs and hot and sour soup for myself. It was full of flavour and one of the best soup ive had. For my mains i got the chicken pho. Full of flavour and it just tasted like authentic vietnamese pho. The service was very quick and attentive. Will be back when i visit london again christmas time. Definitely will be ordering the hot and sour soup and...
