What a yummy place! Everything came out sizzling and everything was freshly cooked. The decor was tasteful and the crockery was authentic. The staff were very professional and helpful when we had questions about the menu. One member of staff had very long hair which was swinging all over the place. Her hair was beautiful but I didn't need to feel it brushing against my neck as she walked by.
We ordered the following dishes: Kimchi, Izakaya Cabbage, Vegetarian Gyoza, Kang Jung Chicken, Tomato & Asparagus (Japanese) Curry and Kimchi Bokkumbap.
Kimchi - was perfectly pickled and had a lovely fiery aftertaste.
Izakaya Cabbage - was really delicious and fresh tasting. I've never had anything like this before and I really enjoyed it!
Vegetarian Gyoza - whilst cooked very nicely and were certainly tasty, we weren't overly impressed with the filling. It was like baby food inside (puree). I was hoping for some whole vegetable pieces but that's just my preference I guess.
Kang Jung Chicken - very tasty. I don't eat chicken on the bone and some of the pieces were boneless so my friend and I were able to pick our favourite pieces. It was crunchy, sticky and sweet!
Tomato & Asparagus Curry was a nice variation on the usual Japanese curry. The Asparagus tips were perfectly cooked to crunchy perfection and the tomatos were sweet. There was plenty of curry sauce, rice and pickled ginger.
Kimchi Bokkumbap - stir fried egg fried rice topped with marinated beef and a fried egg. Spicy!
£30 per person and we...
Read moreAs a Korean expat who’s been in search of decent K-food in London for quite some time, I am THRILLED that this little joint has opened up in our neck of the woods!
We’ve been here a number of times now to try few dishes on the menu: we love love LOVE the yangyum fried chicken (super juicy inside/ insanely crispy on the outside tossed in a killer sauce and pickled Korean radish on the side), jjambong noodle soup so intensely unami with generous portions of seafood, really delicious ten-don with piles of lightly battered tempuras and katsu-don with super tasty kombu soy sauce. Everything we’ve tried at this place so far has been YUM and we are excited to work our way through the menu!
The restaurant seats about 20-25 people so not tiny but would advise booking/getting there early as it can be a little difficult to find tables on Fridays/weekends - but this only serves as a testament to just how good these guys are given they’ve only been open for just over a month. Would recommend everyone to absolutely go here and try everything on the menu - K restaurants this good don’t come by easily, not even in...
Read moreLook, it's good, but I was still a bit disappointed. It's not cheap. It's got a lot of hype. It's usually packed with people queueing to get in. But if I'm going strictly on food... I have to go middle of the road.
I had a beef bibimbap and shared gyoza plus two types of chicken with my companions. It was all good. The problem as I see it is that the chicken is better at Daebak in Vauxhall and the bibimbap is better at On The Bab in St Paul's.
The chicken was flavoursome but I don't want bone in my chicken when I'm having it crispy Korean style.
The bibimbap was ok but the composition was wrong. I wasn't enamoured of the quality of flavours or the amounts of each ingredient. On The Bab gets it perfect, this was a bit veggie heavy, rice heavy, and meat light.
Considering this place came recommended, I'm not entirely convinced I'd go back. Please don't get me wrong, I don't mean to make it sound bad, it was just below what I...
