I USED to LOVE this place. Food always was delicious, tasting like it was cooked with care with the finest ingredients. It was very flavourful, not really oily (like some West Indian restaurants) or boney pieces with no meat and cooked down for a long time so the meat fell off the bone. I moved away from London 3 years ago, but went there on the 23rd December 2023 to treat myself to 2 small meals to take away: a curry goat & rice & peas & an oxtail & rice & peas (prices have gone up, so this cost me £20 - as the small meals were £10 each). I received 2 curry goat meals. One of them was half white rice & half rice & peas, as if they wanted to finish what they had. There was a large hard bit of rice, like the bottom of the pot. The meat was full of fat, any bits that were there were so TOUGH it was impossible to eat. I decided to just eat some rice & gravy - then I found a HAIR in it, so I threw it away. I hate to waste money or food, so tried the other meal (thinking I had an oxtail - but that's when I discovered I'd been given 2 curry goats). It was the same thing - and 2 HAIRS in the food! 🤮 Hygiene and cooking has seriously gone downhill. Alarm bells should have been ringing when I went in, there was no queue for the hot food - but a large queue where the patties are. I usually love their patties - but this experience has put me off - as I would literally throw up if I was eating a pattie and found hairs. Because they were in my meal, I saw them, so they didn't go in my mouth - thank goodness. I will never go there again and I had been a loyal customer for years. My advice would be to save your money and go elsewhere. Gross.

There are time in life when you know that God is guiding you. I am NOT religious in the conventional sense, but this is the best way to describe what I can only say was one of the BEST dining experiences of the year thus far!!My sister and I went to Brixton to get something in a haberdashery store, purely by chance (or serendipity) we passed this eating establishment. We saw as we passed a gentleman going from table to table, seemingly chatting to the patrons. We mental marked it , went and found what we originally went for and , indeed , returned. We were greeted at the door by the same gentleman, he introduced himself as Stafford, the second part of a GREAT team, his wife Rose being the 'real' BOSS, he pointed her out in their cookery side of the business. We were seated. I requested to know a bit about the business. We sampled four starters, added sides, had their 'in-house' rum punch (which was ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS'. The total price for this experience was TREMENDOUS, soft music in the background..I could talk and talk about the ambience, chilled vibe....etc. All in all , just go and visit. Taste, hot, fresh, fabulous food. Get some Brixton local knowledge.......JUST GOOOOO. Thank you Rose and Stafford

This place has a lovely little restaurant as well as a pop in shop. We first saw the shop and noticed how busy it was so attended the restaurant. We were greeted so welcoming and warm by the owner who was glad for our visit and seated us. We both ordered Jerk Chicken, Rice and Peas and Colselaw. This was lovely and just the right amount, the chicken was served on the bone and the jerk sauce was delicious. I would have liked some additional sauce for the rice but I didnt ask, they would've been happy to assist. There is toilet facilities and this is clean and well maintained. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and had good music playing at a comfortable volume. We also visited the shop and purchased a Veg Pattie and a Beef Pattie and these were also delicious. Great little independent business to support!

I have traveled quite a distance on multiple occasions to enjoy the patties from this establishment. Unfortunately, during my most recent visit (Today), I encountered poor customer service that left me disappointed. The individual assisting me today was rather rude. Despite my placing a substantial order and seeking clarification on a few items, I was met with impatience as I was told it's getting busy and there is a queue behind me forming... so what doses this dude want me to do, cancel my order or walk out to lose the business money? . Such lack of professionalism and respect for customers is truly disheartening.

Furthermore, there seems to be an ongoing issue with accuracy in order fulfillment. On a previous visit, I purchased six patties but only received four upon returning home. This repeated error is concerning, especially when one expects to receive what was paid for. Additionally, today I emphasized my dietary preferences for rice and peas, yet I was given white rice instead. The staff member in question did not handle the situation well, insisting that I had requested white rice despite my clear preference for rice and peas, and she failed to offer a replacement or solution. She was the same one who mucked up my patty order on my previous visit.

The consistent lapses in service and attention to detail are worrisome. As a loyal customer who goes out of my way to support this establishment, I am truly disheartened by the overall lack of professionalism exhibited by certain staff members. In other establishments within my community, such mistakes are rectified with gestures of goodwill like a complimentary meal on the next visit. Unfortunately, I have yet to see such efforts here.

Ultimately, the importance of delivering exceptional customer service cannot be overstated. It is essential for the reputation and success of any business. Regrettably, my recent experiences have left me questioning whether I will return. I sincerely hope that the management addresses these issues promptly to preserve the reputation of the establishment and restore confidence among patrons. It's such a shame as I often will use good establishments for business opportunities but with this kind of bad customer service and unprofessionalism I will not consider it...

Terrible (well not quite)

Quite disappointed considering all the 'hype'. Really was looking forward to some delicious Caribbean food from this 'reputable' shop but left dissatisfied and thus compelled to write this.

Don't bother folks ( seriously )

Buns and bread - excellent quality, freshly baked but extortionate if you consider the competition, missed opportunity, especially in Brixton.

Food - alright (at best), missed opportunity considering the location and the outstanding premises from the outside.

Service - Hit and miss! I never blast unless compelled but the service received by one of the members of staff near closing time was horrendous. Precisely 'why' businesses go to dogs (aside from high rents, comp, audience, etc). Just one of those occasions where simple custom or 'apologies we're closing' will have sufficed.

Instead, one was told to get out and shoved out the door by one of the staff/nondescript (not uniformed hence) - in all just leaving quite a bitter-tasting nasty experience.

Everyone has bad days but this was quite foul.

Food 6/10 - (8/10 bun is excellent even at £4-6!!!! Why is it one always feels robbed when buying from such places (for those who 'know').

Service - 0/10 (10/10 - in summer when the right person serves you mind you!!!) but It only takes 'one' and the chap closing the shop is downright foul, with no respect or grace whatsoever.

Value 3/10 - like to support local business but it's clear to see where this place is heading with bad apples and pricing like that...serious revision is required, an unpolished gem,...
