I have ordered twice from honest burgers in Dalston, a medium ‘honest’ burger which took 1 hour 45mins to deliver (not ubers fault) and came burnt and on another occasion a chicken burger which turned out to be raw on the inside and completely unsafe to eat (which I didn’t even receive a refund for). This has gone beyond poor quality and service (i.e. a burnt burger and very late) to just unsafe practice and standards. And after looking through other reviews I can see this clearly isn’t a one off as there were other occasions of raw meat being delivered, food delivered that had clearly gone off with foul smells and even food being delivered and marked as gluten free to a coeliac patient who could’ve ended up in hospital. This is completely unsafe and for most of the reviews they give a generic apology saying “we take very seriously the concerns of our guests, and we have already briefed our team in order to improve this mistake”. Evidently this is untrue, you can understand as with any service industry sometimes you can make mistakes with getting the order wrong or being slow etc. But raw meat, food that has gone off, incorrectly labelled foods to people with life threatening allergies/intolerance is completely incompetent and unsafe. This has gone beyond the point of feeling the need to write a review, which I rarely do, but I feel this needs to be escalated to food trading standards and these guys need a full investigation and to be potentially shut down.
I urge you not to order from them, this isn’t just about a poor service or poor quality of food, there is a genuine risk to your safety. And if you have any allergy or food intolerance absolutely do not take the risk as there is a genuine risk to your life, they incorrectly label food and given that they haven’t learnt from their mistake of providing raw food I highly doubt they’ve learned from their mistake with incorrectly...
Read moreOrdered the jerk bbq wings, onion rings, fries and double smash burger. (All ordered via uber eats)
Wings (3.6 out of 5)
The jerk bbq wings were flavourful, seasoned well and had a nice ratio of spice to flavour, although I personally would have preferred abit more spice. Garnished in onion was a nice touch. Only critique for the wings themselves would be if they were more juicy. However, my only issue, although a big one, was the price to portion ratio. 3 wings for a price of £5.20 seems extortionate even if there is a commission fee for uber. Would be less of an issue for an extra wing.
Onion rings (3.2 out of 5)
Onion rings were okay. Nothing special but then again they're onion rings. Would say the batter was abit to crispy, and it overpowered the onions themselves. Price to portion ration same as the wings, but I did recieve an unusually big onion ring.
Fries (4.1 out of 5)
Skin on fries I was not expecting, but they were crunchy, well seasoned, decent portion sizing, and overall really good. Again abit too crunchy like the onion rings however All other components really brought the fries together.
Double smash burger (4.3 out of 5)
As a burger joint I had high hopes and was definately not displeased. Burger was seasoned well, buns were lightly toasted, cheese had a smokey flavour and really complimented the burger. Onion and pickles lifted the burger but the component that really took it to another level was the browm butter mayo. Suprising since I hate mayonase. Only critique is I wanted the burger to be more juicy.
Overall everything in my order felt slightly overcooked. And the price to portion ratio is a little extreme. However the flavours and the quality of the food were really good....
Read moreThe standards at this store have dramatically diminished in recent times. They clearly do not care about the quality of what they are sending out as I have come to learn with my last few experiences. I’ve been in store and ordered online but my most recent order will be my last in any form.
I ordered via Uber eats and in all honesty what arrived was insulting. I had ordered a double smash burger w/bacon and added extra bacon to this. I was expecting a at least 3-4 rashers of bacon but what I received instead was two overdone patty’s topped with one skinny chewy piece of bacon (see picture attached). I also added buffalo wings (I usually love these!) and the bacon beef gravy. The wings were over done and ridiculously small. I have attached a picture where you can see the wing is barely bigger than a teaspoon. The gravy was stone cold and I can only assume the store must have run out as the portion was no more than a slop in the bottom of the pot.
I wouldn’t usually post on here but I reached out on twitter and was met with nothing but half arsed responses and given absolutely no solutions or guarantees that this won’t happen again.
They clearly do not care anymore, so why should anyone give them...
