Visited Hudsons for some food on the August Bank Holiday. On arrival, we were greeted kindly by a blonde waitress/front of house. We explained that we would like a table for two. There was a table for two outside that we noticed upon arrival and then asked to sit on, which operated a good social distance from others. However, the table needed clearing of existing plates and wiping (due to corona virus), which the waitress explained would take two minutes. No problem we thought. Duly, someone did indeed come out and clear the table two minutes later as we stood by it, nevertheless no wiping/sanitising took place. We then stood for another couple of minutes by the table at which point the same waitress/front of house came outside to attend to another group who were waiting. She noticed us still waiting and said we could sit down, I signalled that we couldn't as the table still needed wiping. She answered "no problem, just two mins". However, around five minutes or so passed by so at this point we'd been waiting around ten minutes in total. Not meaning any malice, I went inside to say to the lady that we'd now been waiting a little while and that the table still needed cleaning to which she very rudely replied (infront of other customers as well by the way) "well it is bank holiday and we are very busy!". I then explained we had been waiting a while but she then had the audacity to say "well if you'd like to wait two minutes we'll be with you then", having already waited well over two minutes for a quick job to be completed. Granted, a couple of minutes later someone did wipe it, however upon sitting down both my partner and I felt as if we'd been treated rather unfairly by a very abrupt individual, so we therefore decided to leave. I do understand it's difficult with covid etc and that it was Bank Holiday. Despite this though, I'm sorry but if you anticipate being busy and you know if could be tough, have a few more staff in on the day and imperatively, don't take it out on the customer...it was quite frankly unexpected, embarrassing for us and other customers. Also, if you're telling someone to wait two minutes and you know full well it won't be, just be honest. Anyhow, we had a walk down to Social Brew, were seated immediately and served food in almost an instant (which was imbeccable by the way), would...

We visited for an NCT reunion. So a party of approx. 10. Adults and babies! After a few hiccups with the booking via email, not hearing back for a few weeks, I reached out to the owner ahead of our visit to ensure they could accommodate our needs - I.e multiple high chairs and whether they wanted a pre-order. I’d been recommended Hudsons via a good friend who had had a party there previously so she was confident in the service and food. On the morning of the brunch, a few people dropped out due to sickness (unforeseen) and so out of courtesy I messaged the owner so they could reshuffle our table. I was met with a frosty reply telling me off, saying that should have let her know sooner and we should have paid a deposit - but she’d let me off. The communication frustrated me, as had we been asked at booking for a deposit we would have gladly provided it. The sickness of others was completely out of my control, last minute and as most seasoned parents know it’s better to stay at home than spread it! Despite being annoyed by this message, the brunch was a huge success. The atmosphere in Hudsons is warm and friendly. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and gasped with glee as they came out - the portions are generous to say the least - so go hungry! The service was relaxed and we had ample space to accommodate the babies and prams. We all stayed for an extra coffee after the brunch and we didn’t feel pushed out. I will 100% return with friends and recommend this local business. Thanks for...

I was quite disappointed with my visit to Hudson's to be honest, I don't know why I was surprised. I've been as part of a large group before and it wasn't a 5 star experience, but this most recent trip was my worst to date.

Hudson's has a tendency of accepting group bookings that they simply cannot fulfill with the high quality of service that I'm sure they strive for. You know they aim to give high quality service because they charge a mandatory service fee if 12.5% on tables of 6 or more. I don't fully understand that to be honest. Economies of scale surely would suggest per person cost of providing dining facilities and services would be lower, not higher? You're immediately on the back foot if you're expecting justification for this additional fee.

We waited around 75 minutes for our tables food to start coming out, whilst everyone had received their plates about 10 minutes later. It's fair to say some in the group had nearly finished by the time the last one came out. Everyone was extremely hungry and it was very late in the evening.

When it did arrive, my food was good and I did enjoy it (steak), but I do wonder if they had to conceive the animal, nurture it's mother through pregnancy before it's birth, growth and slaughter before it found its way onto my plate.... The quality of the food once it had arrived is the only reason I have not given this review the...

Came for brunch with a group. There was only about 5 other tables with people eating in and our food took about 45 minutes to come, which is quite long considering most the other tables had been served. Paid £5 for a tiny glass of orange juice (shown in photo), with half the glass filled with ice. Expected a £5 glass of orange juice to be freshly squeezed, but it was obviously cheap orange juice out the carton. You could probably buy at least 2 entire cartons of cheap orange juice for the £5 I paid. It’s a shame, as my family have lived in Putney our entire lives and used to love the old Hudson’s, but it’s not the same now. New owners have significantly decreased the quality of food, whilst increasing the prices. Will not be coming back.

Excellent! So I’ve been here a handful of times over the years, usually during the quieter weekday afternoons, both before and after they had a makeover. Went here recently and the cappuccino’s way better than I remember (the very rare time I didn’t need sugar), and the brisket sandwich was so good! I would normally go for the Grappler’s Bowl which I can also recommend. They used to do a lot more different brunch hashes but have slowly discontinued them, like Duck Hash (I hope they’ll reconsider bring it back, I haven’t had anything like it since)

This place doesn’t disappoint. Perfect spot for brunch in Putney with great service. I usually go for the cowboy bowl which is basically a bit of everything. I very rarely finish it but I’m sure I’ll get there eventually! There is a little outdoors bit with a heater which is lovely when it’s a bit colder. The staff are always so friendly and make sure you are looked after. Definitely recommend!
