Went for unannounced meal for 2 Wed 30 Dec. Arrived 6.20 and were seated nicely. Two couples were already being served at two different tables. A waiteress took our drinks order, a glass house red and a small bottle of cobra. A waiter brought these quite quickly. Later another waiter took our starter order. We were asked if we wanted poppadoms. We said we would like to order the tandoori mixed grill. The menu stated it came with one plain naan, so we looked forward to that as we like some naan bread with starters. The mixed grill arrived in good time sizzling on a bed of onions. A little too well heated hot plate as most of the onions had got burnt. However the waiter asked if we would like the naan now or with the main course. This was wrong as we now had to wait a further 4 minutes before the naan arrived when it clearly stated the naan is part of the mixed grill. The mixed grill was a bit of poor show, one sheek kebab with little flavour, one piece of lamb tikka, 2 pieces chicken tikka, one full side of marinated chicken breast. Overall it was just okay. We shared the starter. We had to obtain a waiters attention after we had finished the starter to order the main course, a karhi bhindi and a karhi chicken (with peppers and onions and tomatoes) and 2 garlic naans. We also clearly asked for two glasses of tap water no ice in both. The food arrived in good time. No water though. So we asked again. One glass of water with ice was brought. We corrected the waitress and she brought 2 glasses of water with no ice. The karhi bindi was excellent and full of flavour. The karhi chicken was just sauce, chuncks of onions and even chunkier chicken pieces, which could have been cut into smaller piecea and there was no sign of tomatoes or peppers (I presume these must have been blended intonthe sauce. Taste was good, and the food was served hot. Spice was just right for what we ordered. Another glass of wine was ordered and arrived. The bill was good, with an (discretional 10% already applied).we settled with £50. We were offered complimentary baileys, and had a chat with the manager on duty. Overall some improvements could make this a...
Read moreI don’t know what service everyone is banging on about. Firstly the Mrs and I were the first to enter once they had opened, yet the service was still extremely slow. We were asked whether we wanted poppadums or not, in nearly all Indian restaurants I have visited, these are usually given on the house without having to ask. We had to wait around for 20 mins to order even though the waiter was not doing much and it wasn’t busy either. Moving onto the food, the starter was burnt and the chops were chewy. The vindaloo which was meant to be extremely hot (we were also warned by the waiter), was actually extremely mild, compared to some eye watering vindaloos I have had in the past. The coke was extremely flat, served out of a bottle and the biggest shock of all- it was served in alcohol glasses despite the owners knowing that as Muslims we do not drink alcohol. There was also no halal certified certificate in their restaurant or online even though they claim to be halal. As we were the same ethnic background as the managers and waiters we were also able to understand them when they were swearing and gossiping about customers. Throughout the duration of our meal we had to put up with the staff insulting customers, even the regulars, despite knowing I could umdsrstand them that couldn’t care less. Overall I will not be going...
Read moreOrdered once me and the Mrs finally got the kids to bed. Havnt had a curry since... I can't remember when, so we spent £50 and I collected. I got home and the rice was missing. So I went back to collect the missing rice and got a refund for the rice. By the time I got home our food was cold. I ordered a Mixed biryani, the mrs ordered a tikka masala. There was 1 piece of chicken in the biryani I don't think there was any other meat just a plate of flavoured rice. The masala and the vegetable curry were watery there was no thickness to the sauces. The nanns just tasted plain. I had to pay for the onion salads and small pots of dips chutney etc. I have no idea what they were but they were not the usual dips you would get with popadoms just looked like pots of watery liquid. There was no substance or flavour that you would usually expect with a curry. I would usually throw anything down my throat but I genuinely feel like this was the worst curry I've had and I was so disappointed I just threw my £45 in the bin and emptied the bin bag afterwards. If it wasn't so late in the evening I would have returned it . Couldn't be bothered in the end. So yea I won't be going there again and I can't recommend them either . It's a shame, we were really looking forward...
