I had an unexpected Chinese culinary adventure at Mornington Jinli in London! This restaurant not only offers authentic Sichuan cuisine but also immerses us in the atmosphere of Chengdu's streets and alleys. The modern decor of the establishment is refreshing, and the Chengdu old photos and Sichuan opera masks adorning the walls add a touch of Chinese charm to the place. We tried some of the restaurant's signature dishes, and they were all incredibly delicious: Red Sugar Rice Cakes: Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, it felt like it carried the warmth of Chengdu's sunshine, and the red sugar syrup was a sweet memory. Red Oil Wontons: Exuding the aroma of Chengdu's night markets, the spicy and tangy flavors were truly unforgettable. Spicy Boiled Fish: The tender fish and the numbing spiciness of the red oil transported us to the streets of Chengdu. Spicy Pig's Trotters: Tender and flavorful, with a delightful spicy kick that lingers on the palate. Chicken and Pork Stomach Hot Pot: A traditional Chengdu-style dish, the perfect blend of pork stomach, chicken, red dates, magnolia petals, and wolfberries. All in all, this dining experience in Mornington Jinli allowed me to savor the culinary delights and culture of Chengdu, China. It was truly an unforgettable experience! If you're looking to satisfy your Chinese cravings, I highly recommend...
Read moreI wish that there could be minus 5 stars as a review. As I have just walked out of the restaurant without ordering as the two staff serving (one was the manager) were so rude. Actually the most rude restaurant experience that i have had in the world. And i have travelled. Went with some friends as we read the reviews. We sat down, ordered a bottle of wine and then had a look at the menu. The wine came and my friend asked a question about a dish on the menu and the staff couldn’t explain (that was ok) but then showed a picture of a king prawn on google. We were asking how is the prawn dish prepared! Move on. I then asked the manager about a dish that another table had and he barked at me if i could just wait. We decided then that we didn’t trust them preparing at £38 fish dish and decided to leave. I asked who the manager was when i was paying just for the wine as we had started to drink. And for the first time in my life i swore at someone serving at a restaurant as he was still so rude. So avoid, avoid, avoid. There are so many other restaurants in London with good food and great service. This place needs to be closed down! And staff need to have some...
Read moreI ordered delivery and was absolutely shocked by the poor quality. The food arrived hard, stale, and completely lacking in flavor — it was obvious that old ingredients were used. As someone who frequently visits Jinli in Chinatown, I had high expectations, but this was beyond disappointing. I ordered crispy chicken in sichuan pepper and dry pot pork intestine. The “pork intestine” dish was mostly potatoes with barely any meat, and charging this much for such low-quality food is outrageous. It was a complete waste of money, and I feel ripped off. Honestly, I don’t understand how this restaurant has such high ratings. I tried to eat the food, but it was so bad that I completely lost my appetite. I genuinely love Chinese food, but after this experience, I don’t think I’ll be able to eat it again for a while. Seriously, something needs to change — and fast. This was a terrible experience, and I will never order from here again. I will also make sure to warn others...
